Four more former University of Tennessee players were released as NFL teams set their 53-man rosters on Saturday.
San Diego cut receiver Mark Jones, Kansas City waived center Rob Smith and Carolina released fullback Troy Fleming and receiver Chris Hannon.
Jones was trying to win a job on special teams after appearing in 29 games with Tampa Bay from 2005-07.
Earlier, the News Sentinel reported that Jacksonville cut tight end Chris Brown and defensive tackle Jesse Mahelona. Atlanta released defensive tackle Rashad Moore.
On Sunday, the Jaguars signed Brown to the practice squad.

I knew some of the ex-vols would get cut about this time of year, lots of players get cut. Onto other things. I'm watching the re-run of the UGA/GASA game on sports south. UGA dosn't look like the 1# team, thay look very beatable.

DC- Also see Dwight Goodrich, another less than stellar example of ex-Vols. The fact is, every team has skeletons in the closet. Not all of these young men are going to be shining examples. DC thought he was being funny. Maybe if I wasn't wound up for tomorrow night's game, I could have seen the humor. I do hope he realizes though that his joke could have applied to just about any NCAA football team, including the Gators.

Who's Dwight Goodrich? The love child of Dwight Gooden and Dwayne Goodrich?
CoverOrange writes:
Now that was funny, LiveFaith.
DC, you must have been thinking of the Cincy Bengals.

Rob Smith is sort of surprising but others were lucky to even have had a shot.

My bad, it is DWAYNE, not Dwight. Running a fever today, thoughts aren't completely coherent. My point was all of our programs have had some bad apples in the barrel. Kids make poor choices.

your right about the bad choices BSweet, I do it all the time, especially when I choose to eat those late night bean burritos. That choice effects my wife too.

Some of those guys may yet sign with other teams. As for the others, there is a reason NFL is said to stand for Not For Long! Like hiresanders, I hope they got some edu-ma-cay-shun while they were here. If they didn't graduate, they need to come back to finish up. The Vols have a great program for getting ex-players back into school. As for the various bad actors, they are still young men and for the most part they can still make something of themselves if they understand where they went wrong and decide to get right.

johnlgoo. How right you are.Not only ball players but any one that desires can make something of themselves. The key is WANT TO.Too many people lay around for their lottery number to be called before they realize they didn't buy a ticket.

I've been off the site for awhile. Am I mistaken or did the KNS finally get a little serious and eliminate some of the trolls and whiners on here? Can slingbladesanders be far behind? Like most KY fans, he isn't capable of rational thought and hasn't posted anything worthwhile since he signed up. Pay attention mods. No need to keep him around either.
