Toney Williams hopes to know his college future on Thursday.

That’s when the 6-foot-1, 229-pound running back from Milton High School in Alpharetta, Ga., will meet Tennessee head football coach Lane Kiffin.

He said Kiffin and wide receivers coach Latrell Scott will visit him at school on Thursday.

Williams, who’s still committed to UT, said he plans to find out his role with the Vols from Kiffin.

“I hope he tells me he wants me to play running back,” Williams said. “I hope he actually believes I can be an SEC running back. I’m hoping he gives me a chance.”

That chance to play running back, not fullback, is all Williams wants.

“All I’m waiting for is for Coach Kiffin to ask me to play running back,” Williams said. “Then I’m going to Tennessee.”

Scott is a big reason Williams first decided to choose UT.

Williams said he still speaks weekly with Scott, whose future at UT remains undecided.

“I really like Coach Scott,” Williams said. “I really want him around.”

Williams, who plans to enroll in college in January, is scheduled to take an official visit to Kentucky this weekend.

He said he hasn’t cancelled the trip because he’s waiting to speak to Kiffin.

Williams took an unofficial visit to Alabama last weekend. He hasn’t received a scholarship offer from the Tide.
