Tailback Jarvis Giles is planning to announce his college football decision – again - on Tuesday.
The one-time Tennessee commitment from Gaither High School in Tampa, Fla., has long said that he will again commit to be a Vol if running backs coach Stan Drayton is retained on UT’s staff.
“I heard he’s staying,” the 6-foot, 180-pounder said.
Giles de-committed from UT shortly after head coach Phillip Fulmer was dismissed.
Retaining Drayton, however, doesn’t mean Giles’ recruitment is a done deal.
“Truthfully, all three are neck and neck,” Giles said of UT, Nebraska and South Carolina.
The Gamecocks and Cornhuskers are making a strong push.
South Carolina is sending head coach Steve Spurrier to see Giles on Thursday. Nebraska will get the final say when head coach Bo Pelini arrives on Sunday.
UT will be represented Friday by Drayton and newly hired assistant coach David Reaves, who recruited Giles while he was the recruiting coordinator at South Carolina.
