congrats to berry. i thought it might be cody. but, hard to argue with berry. tenn may have given up 10 more points per game without him and i'm not kidding either.

i was about to throw up when i did not see percy harvin as all-sec 1st team, but then i saw all-purpose.

i still think that's a joke, since they put him as a 2nd string all-sec wr.

the first four players i would take out of the sec (if i were forming a college team) are tebow, harvin, cody and berry.

brandon lafell and a.j. green.

c'mon man.

Green put up better numbers across the board including double the TD's scored.

Sorry, meant to add that it reeks of politics that Jones got FOY in my last post.

He had similar defensive stats to Woodson when he won the heisman. If he puts up these numbers on defense next year and about 300 rec yards and 150 rushing yards he could be a heisman canidate.

Well said. I hope the conversation comes up also as a way of reminding the Woodson fans what their standard was back then.

Although if TN history is a predictor, Berry will finish second.

Kind of hard to let Harvin double dip since Green and Lafell had better receiving stats.

Not saying I would trade either(or both together for that matter) for Harvin, he just needed more snaps at WR to pad the stats.

It'd be a no brainer to make Tebow MVP but Harvin would run a close second IMO.

do they just go by stats and reputation when they pick these teams or do people watch games and think about the players they would want on their team?

'cause i've got some issues.

how can an offensive lineman from tennessee be all-sec?

a kentucky cb being first string all-sec? really.

If we could see the list, I'll bet we could make a pretty good guess. And that's as sour as my grapes will get.

Congratulations Eric. You've been a very bright light in a very dark forest.

I agree with you about Parker getting all-SEC 2nd team-- kind of ridiculous.
Of course, it's also ridiculous that Parker was able to carry Fulmer off the field after the KY game, and yet he couldn't block worth a toot against Wyoming.

wildberry14 writes:

whoever didnt vote for berry either checked the wrong box on accident or didnt watch any games this year. im also surprised to see that ahmad black didnt get at least second team safety. aj green had better numbers than julio so thats weird too. i think robert ayers deserved it but its quite humorous to see one of tennessees offensive lineman on an all-sec team.

"how can an offensive lineman from tennessee be all-sec?"

That was exactly my question as well. By that standard Fulmer should have been coach of the year.

Lets ask this question- I know he'd never get the vote, but...is there a better player at his position in the entire country (offense or defense) than Eric Berry?

I know Tebow, McCoy, and Bradford are sensational (w/ great stats) but my gosh, Eric Berry is so good, is there a better football player in the country?

Thoughts?

No one from UT will ever the ESPN's Heisman darling like Woodson. That still sticks in my gut.

Don't scratch the Heisman itch folks. Only pain lies there. Not gonna happen. If it was going to happen, Lauricella, Majors, and Manning would have one of those creepy little posers on their mantle.

For the many Jim Rome mopes on this board (too young to remember), Rome did Peyton no favors on the Heisman. He pushed Ryan Leaf and flamed Peyton unmercifully. Of course now when he talks to Peyton, butter wouldn't melt in his mouth.

He was/is such a poser.
