Hannon released by Dolphins, picked up by Lions

Former University of Tennessee wide receiver Chris Hannon was signed by the Detroit Lions on Tuesday, merely hours after being waived by the Miami Dolphins.

Hannon, who played at UT 2002-05, has yet to catch a pass in a regular-season NFL game. He started the season with the Carolina Panthers, but was released Aug. 30 during final cuts.

Two days later, Hannon was signed to the San Francisco 49ers' practice squad. He was activated by the 49ers on Nov. 30, before being waived on Dec. 2.

Hannon didn't stay unemployed long, being picked up by the Dolphins on Dec. 3.

If he can't make the team in Detroit he needs to look at starting a new career

Coach Kippy will take care of him for the next five days. After the BIG 16 on Sunday in Green Bay, Coach Kippy may be calling CLK for an interview.

Now that's a real non-story! Think maybe he'll catch the pass that breaks the Lions' 0-15 losing streak? SAVol

Does he get frequent flyer miles?

Tough for him. It's hard to do anything when you can't put down some roots and learn a system. Detroit's system is about to change anyway probably even though I like Marineli (I don't know why).

Hannon, ride it till it falls.

Hang in there Chris. You were great at UT and someone who could be counted on when a big catch was needed. One of my favorite players.

He seems like another David Martin. A lot of potential that didn't really blossom at UT but might at the pro level. Obviously impressing somebody to keep getting signed up.

One can only wonder how well he might have done had he not been handicapped by playing for Fulmer and Co.
