CLK may need some significant help on that fence building project!
Merry Christmas!
TopperVol75 writes:
Let's hope CLK has better luck building our fence around the border of TN than our government has had putting up that fence on the Texas border!! LOL
I hope that all my fellow Vol fans have a safe and peaceful Christmas season. We are extremely fortunate to live in this wonderful country and should never take it for granted.
Free speech is alive and well...especially on this message board.
pms151 writes:
If we get Marlon Brown and a speedy deep threat along with the kid we just got from Florida our offense is on the way to a great recruiting class. However it looks like Ole Miss is the winner in the state. Maybe the Commercial Appeal should start covering UT with zest.
BillsBrother writes:
And I see Tennessee listed next to ONE of the names in the top ten.
Hammer and nails, please!
firefulmer writes:
That's strange. The ones that Fulmer let get away, always found a way to play/start for FLA, FLA ST, BAMA, LSU, KY, GA, CAROLINA, LSU, VANDY, KY, MISS, SOUTHERN CAL, ETC, ETC. We have an All-American tight end that sat on the bench. Fulmer/Clawson said something about him being "inexperienced." Kiffin will change all that...wait and see!!!
grvol writes:
Fence? Looks like Phat Phil forgot to close the gate.
AllVol2008#1353998 writes:
Coach Kiffin will be turning them away after next year. We need Brown out of this class. Go Big Orange.
Merry Christmas to this whole, glorious state. It is great to be alive and be in Tennessee. Thank you, Jesus.
pms151 writes:
When Phil cloned into the elitist Phillip and started polishing chrome trailer hitches for the Sky Box royalty the gates closed on their own.
murrayvol writes:
Given that we have 1 committment with 2 undecideds remaining in the top 10, I would agree.
Maybe next Christmas will be a bit merrier on the instate recruiting front.
TennesseeTuxedo writes:
Got to dig up that invisible fence that Fill built around the state first. Then CLK can build a real fence.
knoxlawvol writes:
Hopefully CLK's talent evaluation is better than that of KNS. This list is a ridiculous JOKE! Bullard is the third best talent in the state, or on his own O-line? How is this list compiled because it certainly wasn't done on the basis of past production, football ability, or even potential for future success. Tripe.
leedsvol2007 writes:
A list with a school does not tell you a lot.
Memphis has always been a 3 way split with Ole Miss, Alabama and Tennessee.
Oxford is 40 miles from the Memphis city limits and Tuscaloosa is less than 250 miles. We will always have a fight for recruits there.
The other issue is how many of the other 20 have family ties to schools? If you have an Alabama or Ole Miss or other school tie it sets up better for that school.
And finally even though they are top 20 ranked in Tennessee how do they rank overall?
If they are not highly rated overall and they play a position that is well covered do we need to recruit that prospect?
Obviously Brown, Teague, and Allen are guys we need to get and until signing day we still have a chance.
GoVols!

We have plenty to be merry about this year at Christmas!
I am thankful for many cyber vol friends and fellow volaholics. And we can have great hope for Big Orange football in 2009! CLK is still undefeated at TN!

Years of neglect. Fence will get taller next year.

We certainly do.
The very best to you and yours and Vol fans all over our nation and the world.

I think we will get Marlon Brown,
Its amazing what you can do when you tell prospects they will come in and get the oppurtunity to play/start freshman year.
wesw33z#667083 writes:
saw this on rotoworld.com. been out all day, so not sure if its been posted already
Broncos offensive coordinator Jeremy Bates was given a raise and a contract extension after flirting with the University of Tennessee.
Tennessee head coach Lane Kiffin presumably wanted Bates to run the Vols' offense and Bates was reportedly "seriously" considering it, but Denver's offer was too good. Bates also probably realized that Tennessee is far from guaranteed success in the SEC. Kiffin's got a strong staff, but has an uphill battle for both recruits and wins against NFL-caliber players.
wesw33z#667083 writes:
o yea, rotoworld isnt very UT friendly... as you can see by the last 2 lines. they were staffed by canadians till nbc bought them out :/

I just want to say Merry Christmas to all on the board. I hope Santa is good to each and every one of you guys and gals. Trading barbs and even insults sometimes is part of it, but I really hope all of you have a wonderful Christmas. Even hiresanders...

hey...we'll have to suck it up this year...give him a break...Go Vols.

Merry Christmas, TJ and Frau.
How does it feel to be back in the world of E. Tenn?
bradr114 writes:
3 out of 20 in state guys have committed to UT so far..2-3-4 have already committed elsewhere. that alone tells you where the program is currently. theres no excuse for not getting a large percentage of these guys.

Please remember all our military men & women on Christmas and each day, especially those deployed in war zones. This is our first Christmas apart from our son, who is in Iraq.
Thanks for the distraction that talking/debating/arguing about UT football provides! Glad to be a recent addition to this Volaholic group. Merry Christmas! Go Vols!

Glad to have ya MarineDad.
We will be praying for you're son and all of our true Volunteers.

CAN SOMEONE PLEASE HELP ME?
When is the spring game, and how would I go about getting tickets for it?
JohnnyVol writes:
Well then...thanks for the help.
I know that I barely have time to keep up with UT football. gatorzz you must really need more to do with your life if you can be a Gator fan and still keep up with GoVols. Makes me feel kind of sad...
JohnnyVol writes:
Now that gatorzz has provided so much help, can someone help me with the spring game date...?
MarineDad writes:
Thanks gnm53108, UTfan4life, and gatorzz! gatorzz, thanks to you and your son for your service to our country - you're alright, no matter what everyone says about you.
dc_4_ut writes:
Greg King is a beast!! Derrick Webb has some size issues for the LB position (esp. in SEC) but he has the tools and is prolly the most underrated player on the board...
I see realistic opportunity in landing these 2. GK can play and play early but Derrick Webb deserves a scolly, too...
Merry Christmas guys!
MarineDad writes:
JV, I searched google and the official UT athletic site to no avail. However, the 2008 O&W game was on 19 APR 2008. Using that logic, the 2009 O&W game should be on 18 APR 2009. Typically, admission is free, although there was some chatter on this board last spring that an admission fee may be in the plans for '09.

FWBVol writes:
It will be up to Lane Kiffin as to when Spring practice will start, and subsequently when the spring game will be played.
I doubt if he's had much time to think about that just yet with all the recruiting and trying to put together his staff.
The official UT athletic department website, utsports.com, does an excellent job about keeping that stuff updated. All that said, I would guess the spring game will be sometime in early to mid April.
FWBVol writes:
One thing that stands out about this list of prospects is there is only one DT, and no DEs listed among the top 20 seniors in Tennessee. And that DT is the No. 17 guy. That should tell everyone why it's so hard to find good defensive linemen.
MarineDad writes:
Thanks to all who have commented in response to my post. Please take a few minutes to go to the link below. And again, Merry Christmas!

The players on that list that could come in and really contribute to a program committed to other SEC schools and Notre Dame...nice job Phil.
Stakemat writes:
If the previous coaching staff had landed some of the players that went out of state, things might be different now. If we only have six SEC caliber players per year in state, that gives us 24. It only takes 22 to field a team! It is a shame that we wasted the chance to get the two guys from Paris for next year. Merry Christmas and I hope that the Vols have a great New Year!
ncvol writes:
On behalf of getting ridicule by some of you. I would like to say that nobody is going to be able to live up to your expectations of what a coach should or shouldn't do in regards to recruiting and coaching. Let's just hope we get some talented players to go along with what we have. Let's all try to have a positive outlook on things and hope for better days at UT.
Merry Christmas to all....Go Vols!
JohnnyVol writes:
Thanks so much for your help.
God bless and merry Christmas.
gcscvol writes:
While recruiting is certainly a good starting point, knowing what to do with those recruits is much more important. Don't freak if we don't get everybody we want. My opinion is that we have a good coaching staff coming in and we should all be thankful they're here. Merry Christmas, and....Don't sweat the small stuff.
Ralph_Crampton writes:
Talent my Vol buddies makes us all happy.
Madkels writes:
Talk about in state talent all you want. A poor coach can ruin 4 or 5 star recruits. A great coach will take 2 and 3 star recruits and turn them into NFL prospects. I say Kiffin is the latter. Just give him the chance to turn what we have up a notch and then the 4/5 star guys will beg to come to Knoxville!
Slystone writes:
Wouldn't this be more interesting if it were the top 20 prospects in the state of Tn for 2009?
