Manning tops 4,000 yards passing again

INDIANAPOLIS — Peyton Manning wasted no time in hitting another milestone Sunday against the Tennessee Titans.

The former University of Tennessee star extended his own NFL record for 4,000-yard passing seasons to nine.

Manning entered the game needing 93 yards to hit 4,000, achieving it on a 55-yard touchdown play to Joseph Addai. The two-time league MVP left the game after the opening possession, finishing 7-of-7 for 95 yards with one TD and a perfect 158.3 rating. He has failed to hit 4,000 yards passing in only two of his 11 NFL seasons — 1998, his rookie year, and 2005, when he threw only 14 passes in the final two games and finished with 3,747 yards.

Dan Marino ranks second all-time with six 4,000-yard seasons.

how many more seasons will Manning play? 4, maybe 5? Then he can come back as a QB coach for UT? Sounds nice...

'Twas great to see old Peyton BBQ the nashville titans, then put on his coaching hat/headphones. Listening to Jeff Fisher pine about his playing backups against "a team as good as the Colts" further exposed his CYA mentality. Sure, it was a meaningless game in regard to standings/playoffs, but it was still swwwwweet! GO INDY!

this for nafy--peyton is #5 rated QB, not #21, passer rating yesterday 158.3 the highest for any QB this year.

jimr07 writes:

But dearly beloved, he, nafy, will come on here and talk about giving away games. that the 98 team was glad he was not there. he should not have been since he was not on that team. his teamates did not like him but never says who it is that didn't, that he just went through a messy divorce which is not true. We all know he makes up stories and lies about knowing a lot of players.

The Titans let the Colts win that game. Home field the titans all ready have, no use getting anyone hurt befor the play offs.

Whatever. The Colts had nothing to gain from a win or loss either....they just enjoyed kicking the Titans butts! Go Colts.

I want to voice what many have prior to this, when it cost the whopping sum of 4.00 per month to access this site, the comment IQ average was at least 100 points higher. Approx 5.00 bucks can weed out the ETMs,east tennessee mutants, who buy a Wal Mart shirt and become UT fans. (not everybody in ET is an ETM but they do permeate the landscape.)

Manning is one of UT's all time greats who still comes back yearly to help the school via a scholorship and St Mary's, etc. Gee I stated what every rationale person already knows.

Ok let's take the last two games the Titans lost, the Texasans and the colts. the Titans didn't need to win. I like the Colts and the Steelers. But the Titans will be in the last round of the play offs. or the Super Bowl.

Huh? Take it easy man. All I heard was a bunch of tongue-in-cheek sarcasm trying to get a laugh. Sorry you can't read between the lines.

BTW, I have been part of this site when it was pay and now free and idiots will always find a reason to post. More power to them - as long as their fairly responsible - it's great to live in a "Free" society.

Amen on both counts NC. No question that the IQ level went down drastically when this site went free. From trolls of other schools to some of our own dim bulbs.

Anybody downing Peyton Manning is just talking for the sake of hearing themselves drone. One of the five best QB's to ever play the game. Just ask NFL coaches and his peers. End of discussion.

Go Colts.
