GAINESVILLE, Fla. — Florida’s Percy Harvin ran routes and caught passes Tuesday, his most work since spraining his right ankle last month against Florida State.
Although Harvin hasn’t practiced since the injury, coach Urban Meyer called his do-it-all receiver probable for next week’s Bowl Championship Series national title game against No. 2 Oklahoma.
“I think he’s a little ahead of schedule,” Meyer said.
Harvin sat out the Southeastern Conference championship game against Alabama and has been trying to get back to full speed since. While his teammates scattered across the country during the team’s holiday break last week, Harvin remained in Gainesville to get treatment on his high-ankle sprain.
“I’m not sure I’ve seen a guy do what he’s done as far as commitment,” Meyer said. “I’m giving the guys a day off (Wednesday) and I grabbed him and he said, ’I’m not going anywhere. This is my world.’ He’s as competitive a guy as I’ve ever been around, and it’s showing up right now.”
Harvin, a junior expected to jump to the NFL after this season, has 35 receptions for 595 yards and seven touchdowns. He also is fourth on the team in rushing, with 538 yards and nine scores. He has scored at least once in 14 consecutive games — the longest streak in the nation — and burned defenses while lining up at receiver, running back and even quarterback.
Also Tuesday, Meyer said running back Kestahn Moore should be ready to go when the Gators arrive in Miami on Friday. Moore had surgery to repair meniscus in his left knee. Guard Carl Johnson (knee), running back Chris Rainey (groin) and receiver Louis Murphy (knee) practiced Tuesday.
Although Meyer has confirmed that Harvin and linebacker Brandon Spikes submitted paperwork to the NFL’s draft advisory board in hopes of getting a better feel for their draft stock, he said he didn’t know if junior quarterback Tim Tebow had done the same.
Meyer also declined to speculate on the chances of Tebow returning for his senior year.
“I don’t want to speculate ’cause that’s not fair to a guy I have as much respect as I’ve ever had, so I don’t know,” he said “I love the fact that his focus is on what it is, and that’s to win this game. A lot of times you’ll hear people say, ’Well, I’m going to make this decision after this game,’ and the decision’s been made two months ago.
“There’s been no decisions made. It’s really a unique relationship with Tim.”

On a unrelated note, does anyone know anything about were Marve is planning on transferring to? Is UT going to look at him?

Hopefully he is "ahead of schedule" straight to the NFL. And take TT with you.

He won't stay, there's no way. Know Tebow is another story. The NFL QB throws from under center a majority of the time. Tebow isn't a drop back passer prototype. He's Gun guy. He's only frown like 3-4 passes if that from under center all season. He'll have to be used in some type of offense like he's running now or like what the Dolphins are doing. I feel he'll stay around. I don't think he's saught a scout yet, but Harvin has already looked into were his draft position is.

If we would have waited any longer, we would've lost all our recruits and would had to settle for Petey Wheatstraw, the Devil's son in law, and Lil Mikey Doolittle, both made their HS team but didn't get much playing time.

And this is news to me in what way?

We already have a coach that was fired by Al Davis & didn't have to wait. I think I like the one we got better.
Go VOLS!!!

Really, how many times do i have to hear this headline "Harvin ahead of schedule"? He is more fragile than my 80 year old grandmother and he is seriously considering entering the NFL draft this year...
Why doesnt he just stay another year that way we can hear another off season full of Percy Harvin talk for heisman that wont amount to anything when the season starts...
This kid will get killed in the NFL.

If you seriously think that Harvin is coming back to play the Vols one more time you are seriously mistaken...Hopefully the kid is coming back to toughen up a little.
Dont get me wrong, i think the kid has skill but you cant deny the fact that he gets injured way to easy... That or he is a panzy...Either way, he wont hold up in the NFL. He has put has put a hurtin on my Vols though, hopefully, he will go to the NFL.

Percy ahead of schedule just in time to go back on the DL ,hes the most injured prone athlete I have ever seen.anybody think he will make it 4 qts without breaking a nail or something ?
chrisw2967 writes:
maybe I should of said injury prone in my prev. post but either way he gets hurt very easily.

Shanahan would have been in the Bill Cowher range of salary expectations and would come with a high risk of unknown recruiting ability. I would expect Cleveland or Detroit to make a play, the smart choice being Cleveland. The Jets are too stupid.

Come on now, ease up on the Gators. We had them beat several times, but let them beat us. Name them, the games so we all can see them again! This Hardin guy can sure run! No shame losing to people like that.
chrisw2967 writes:
we would all like to see the highlights of him being helped off the field.I wouldnt think you would keep those highlights just laying around.

Hope he can play.
This game should be a "hit me with your best shot" barn burner.
Bradford's quick release will be a test for Gator corners.
Happy New Year to all.

<<<<Thats ok...He is a great coach but just wait to next yr when the ND comes and steals Big Urban Myer from ya..Remember it is his DREAM JOB.>>>>
I love how every fan who hates Florida is praying for this. Weis has not even been fired and with their easy schedule next year, he might not be fired next year either. Its quite hilarious how much some of you pray for this to happen. This is when you know a program has a top coach that most other programs wished they had. 3 years from now you same fans will still be hoping for the same thing. lol!

Well let me have the floor a SECond.
If the Gators play anywhere near their potential, they're going to smoke Oklahoma. Have you all seen how the Big 12 is performing in the bowl games so far? The lack of defense in that conference is getting exposed.
I just don't think they can hold up for 4 quarters with not just the Gators, but Alabama too had they gotten there. If Harvin is at 90%, they're gonna be out of breath halfway through the 2nd Qtr, LOL.
All I can say is it's kinda like pdhuff said...that quick release better be accurate cos it's gonna take a lot of points to stay in the game. I personally think it's going to turn out like it did when they played USC for the NC a few years back.
