UT signee Walls on junior college list

There's some confusion as to where Tennessee signee Marlon Walls of Olive Branch (Miss.) High School will play college football in the fall.

The 6-foot-4, 230-pound linebacker's name appeared on Northwest (Miss.) Community College's list of 2008 signees. Ward signed his letter of intent with the Vols last Wednesday.

UT officials are still hopeful Walls will be academically eligible to enroll this summer.

If not, Walls will enroll at Northwest or Hargrave Military Academy in Chatham, Va.

His eventual destination will depend on his academic standing, with the worst-case scenario being Northwest.

Walls was the News Sentinel's fourth best prospect in the state before moving from Wooddale High in Memphis to Olive Branch just before his senior season.

He originally committed to Ole Miss, then changed his decision when former coach Ed Orgeron was fired. Walls then committed to UT in January.

How many of our signees will actually be on campus? I know Poole is enrolled. The Fla QB will probably play baseball. Walls to JC. How much of this list is whittled down to net from gross?

Durn. Sjt18 will know.

Will this hurt the 2008 recruiting class?

Let's not jump to conclusions. Stay the course.

Right the ship, stay the course, done it this way for 15 years, all is well. Oh ya, lookin' for magic dust.

No idea until they either qualify or don't.

The ones I've heard that are on the bubble are Thomas and Hughes. I hadn't heard anything about Walls having difficulty.

TommyJack ,I tried to stay the course, but I scored some good from this guy named Dorian last night, and can't find my way home.I went by his place ,but it was empty.

General whatever- If you do not have anything worth saying please refrain from posting.
Some may or may not care about my post which is fine kid but I have the right to make a comment. I gave accuarte information throughout the recruiting period and others thanked me..

I do apologzie for my typo- skippy. however, I think most realized, as you did, what I meant.

You are probably the same guy who was banned from the site a few days ago but now using a different name.

I hope your life gets better as it must be miserable to only receive enjoyment by ridiculing others.
Get a life!!

Guys, how many do you think Alabama is actually going to get into school? It's the smae for everybody in the NCAA these days!

Posted by pdhuff on February 13, 2008 at 9:41 p.m. (Suggest removal)

TJ, I have it on good inside info, that Walls will be a fritter major. He is in pre-glaze at NorthWest, now.

2009 will be Walls' year.

PD: The world can't have too many degreed fritterers.

I don't know why we recruit non-qualifiers on a regular basis!?? Do we not check the grades and see if they can sign their name? Oh well maybe someday we'll see him in Orange! GO VOLS and Goodnight!!

I need some Krispy Kreme.

Rockytop98, it's because they didn't blink...they are looking for "character" individuals with some "mad skills" and burned tag light.

Posted by sjt18 on February 14, 2008 at 9:26 a.m. (Suggest removal)

Rockytop98, It is because they have more talent. The assumption is that many of them underperformed because of the school they were in and/or their homelife rather than not being smart enough.

TommyJack: For once, I agree with you Sir. I think we should stay the course. Coach Fulmer will right this ship. Mr. Walls will still be a help to the National Champs in 2009. It is also good to see the academic standards are so high at The University of Tennessee at that our school does not waiver on academic excellence.

It really does not matter all to much if this guy makes it to campus. Our signing class was full of guys that are a similar size and will probably play linebacker. Our whole recruiting class was "He played wide reciever (or corner or defensive end), but he's probably going to be a linebacker for us. All I know is right now if you play football for the University of Tennessee, you better not screw up!

Gen Fritter, do you have a good read on how many more "bumps" are in store for the doldrums?

And, oh, can we go ahead and print the 2008 Natl Champs T-shirts?

If we can go 13/0 in 09 there won't be a NC game. Not even Ohio would be dumb enough to face us.Hell,at 11/2 we would be awesome. What a schedule.

general fritter. you guy's kill me.

Another product of the disaster that is the Memphis City School system. I guess one year in Mississippi wasn't enough to recover from 3 years of inactivity.

Will we have enough to field a Team next year?
Go Phil.

Posted by pdhuff on February 15, 2008 at 7:03 a.m. (Suggest removal)

dvol 8:56 - Depends on what you call a team.

Posted by sjt18 on February 15, 2008 at 11:21 a.m. (Suggest removal)

OK. You're to blame.

Feel better?

As you pointed out weeks ago, UT can't give all these guys a scholarship immediately anyway. Hopefully Walls will qualify or at worst need a year of prep school

Even FOOLmore's negativity and lack of respect for our wonderful coach and Univerity can prevent Coach Fulmer and team from winning the National Championship. This team is loaded with talent. The program is bigger than 30 or say naysayers and a couple dozen bad apples (players gone wild). FOOLmore Sir, Coach Fulmer (his real name) will right this ship. Step aside and let the Man do his job.

Hmmmm...sjt could the giveaway to the General's true identify be the liberal use of 'FOOLmore'? You can change your anon identity, but you can't hide.

Posted by VOLinDAWGland on February 16, 2008 at 8:19 a.m. (Suggest removal)

Correction, I referred to the 'General' when I meant to refer to 'Foolmore'.

Posted by pdhuff on February 16, 2008 at 4:36 p.m. (Suggest removal)

I usually "defer" to the General rather than "refer". He likes things neat.

We both refer to sjt18. Good man.

Posted by JackCrevol on February 16, 2008 at 6:02 p.m. (Suggest removal)

You guys referring to the ship?

A loss in the SECCG to the best team not only in the SEC but the COUNTRY means we are on a sinking ship?

I don't get that logic. It implies that our ship needs maintenance.

we are a couple of DLinemen away from winning the entire thing, IMO.

Posted by pdhuff on February 16, 2008 at 7:13 p.m. (Suggest removal)

JackCrevol 6:02 p.m. - I'm afraid some of us are still recovering from the 100 points given up to Bama and Fla. 10th in the SEC needs more than a couple of d-linemen to me. It means 4-5 capable of playing SEC football.

We can't count on another improbable stumble into Atl. Whisker thin miracle wins won't always happen. Vandy won't miss FGs, Ky won't get them blocked, etc. It happened this past year, but they weren't in the playbook. Yes we finished 2nd to a QB-less and DT-ham strung LSU with a great effort but gave up 464 yds to go with the interceptions.

Reality.

Enjoyed your post and welcome to the zoo.
