Georgia raises ticket prices for football from $32 to $40

ATHENS, Ga. — Georgia raised the price of its season tickets from $32 to $40 per game after going 10-2 and finishing No. 2 in The Associated Press rankings.

The athletic association board approved the increase at its regular quarterly meeting Thursday.

Georgia said its $32-a-game price ranked ninth in the SEC, though that doesn’t take into account the hefty donations that fans must make just to be eligible to purchase season tickets.

The increase, Georgia’s first since 2002, will bump the Bulldogs up to sixth in the SEC. Any single-game tickets that become available would cost $45 in most cases, while visiting schools will be charged a price consistent with what Georgia fans must pay to attend away games.

The board also approved $750,000 to begin planning for an expansion of 21-year-old Butts-Mehre Heritage Hall, which houses the football program and most of the major athletic offices. The initial phase of the project calls for larger weight and training rooms, additional meeting room space and the creation of a team walkthrough facility.

“I’m very appreciative of the athletic board’s support of the Butts-Mehre expansion proposal,” football coach Mark Richt said in a statement. “The things included in the proposal are very important to the continued development of our football program.”

In other action, the board gave its approval to look into acquiring land for new equestrian team facilities.

Maybe that's the land that state is trying to steal from Tn!

They're just trying to raise more money for the Butt Smear Hall expansion.

LargeO had milk with Captain Fritters this morning.
TommyJack has a burnt tail light.
Kingsportvol once drove to Johnson City.
Vol39 has gas.

Who cares what Georgia is doing with their ticket prices?

I guess we can be thankful that this was not another football player casualty.

Did you know turkey really doesn't make you sleepy???

The sleep inducing triptophan (spelling?) is indeed present in the meat, however, it must be taken without protein and on an empty stomach or it has no effect.

Fletch just told me you were forced to take 4 Ga basketball tickets for every football seat.

They're free.

If you wear red pants with bulldogs on them, and mark barking noises for the entire day, you deserve to pay more money. Not a big fan of UGA fans.

TommyJack, The equestrian team has been in place for some time. One of my best friends worked as an academic counselor for GA until recently (he is now back at App State doing the same thing for the football team). While he was at GA, he worked with the Equestian team, the football team and the men's basketball team. He has a NC ring in Equestrian actually.

They have nice facilities at GA, but a horse team isn't one you think about first hand haha. Just thought I'd share that story....can you tell its already a boring day?

FOOLMORE! Oh my God, is it really necessary to comment on your perceived demise of Tennessee football in articles where it doesn't even have anything to do with us?!?!

If you hate the way Tennessee football is going, then go cheer(or chastise) another team.

The eternal pessimist, that's what you are...ask Ole Mark Richt who got stomped the last two years and who won the east last year...Oh yeah, that whole NC thing is a real kicker too...

Apparently UGA forgot to "do things" against Tennessee, where we have hung 86 on them the past two seasons...but Fulmer just got lucky right?!?!

Foolmore ... you went and upset the fulmerites again by stating facts. How many times have we told you not to to that.

Most fulmerites wouldn't mind another ticket and donation increase at UT. Ticket prices work under the same basic principles ... stay the course.

weird, I thought I recalled stating facts as well...that UGA win this year got us to the SEC championship game, which means $$$. We lost to the National Champions in that game, I'll accept that consolation when it seems that 10 other teams in the SEC didn't make it there...also, that outhouse bowl gave us a pretty hefty payout (seeing as the minimal payout is $3 million). I agree that we need to make it to a BCS game, but recognize some positives here buddy, life can't be that terrible for you...and I feel badly if it is.

does UT get a cut of that?? since we own Georgia!

Sorry Georgia fans, you will have to pay more this year to see Tennessee whip you!

TN beating GA....priceless!
