who cares!! there is a new sheriff in town!

Why do the sports have to be exclusive? Can we not still care about the Lady Vols? The "who cares" attitude isn't a great one. The Lady Vols have been consistently excellent for around 30 years. There is a lot of excitement about men's basketball, as there should be, but we don't need to put down the other teams.

Exactly bigblue. The women's program has been there (#1) several times and stayed there at the end of the year. While we are enthused about the men's program and its success todate, they have a long way to go to match up to the women's history. Knoxville - USA basketball capitol.

Hang in there ladies. Pick up the intensity and get some swagger back as the tourney's start.

Good call, utmdm and bigblue. I support all UT athletics and consider myself to be ALL Vol!!

Way to go ladies, don't worry about anything just play lady vols basketball and everything else will fall into place.

I'm with you bigblue. I'm happy for both men's and women's basketball. I love watching the women win as much as the men. This group of seniors (including Ms. Parker) has been a great group to watch. I will miss them.

you are a joke Todd. This site is about UT not men sports or women sports. UT Sports.

I am excited about our men's team, but I also remember all the years our ladies have made us very proud. If they have Tennessee on their uniforms, then I am a fan of that team. I am proud of any accomplishment. And not to be nasty, but anyone who doesn't have that attitude, I, for one, had just as soon you would log in to some other team's website. If you are not for us you are against us. We do not care much for partly-Vols!
It is always great to be a Tennessee Vol, but today it is even better.

If the Lady Vols play without focus here on out, they'll lose a game in the SEC tourney and lose their #1 seed. Might be good for them -- it was last year -- but I'd much rather see them play with passion and desire the rest of the way. Here's hoping they do! Go Lady Vols!

We'll always know it was the men's program that needed to be elevated to the heights of Summitt.
This has been done.

Maybe this will be noticed and applied in other quarters. Maybe not.

utvolz hate to break the news but I just finished watching the UCONN/LSU game and UCONN won. They even beat LSU on their home court. Lady Vols better step up or they won't ever make it to the sweet 16 which would be unfortunate for the graduating seniors.

I watched the Moore girl for UConn tonight and what a player! I think she may be better than both Holdsclaw & Parker. I was very impressed. UConn has a nice looking team. With Moore I can't see anyone beating them in the field of 64. Still a nice year for the Lady Vols.

I'm afraid we're gonna have to get used to Maya Moore and UConn dominating women's bball for the next few years. She reminds me of Tamika Catchings in the all-around excellence of her game. With the addition of Elena Delle Donna next year, bad as I hate to say it--and I REALLY hate to say it--Geno's gals will be the favorites for awhile yet. I'm not saying the Lady Vols, who also have an outstanding array of new talent coming in, won't have a chance, but any UConn loss for about the next three years or so will be a major upset.

johnlong00.....awww come on, you don't really hate to say it that much do ya?lol!! I hope you're right, but not counting any chickens yet! LV's will be as competitive as ever next few years, and there will always be Rutgers to contend with, but you're right about Moore, she really is a joy to watch

good thing the refs from the sec were on the job against Rutgers or the vols would be 4th with 3 losses

Well, yeah, mad_poly_uct; living, breathing, and dying orange the way I do, I REALLY hate to say it. Giving the devil his due--grudgingly, I might add--Geno does a great job getting his gals to play hard every night, sorta like CBP is doing for our #1-ranked men these days. I'm sure you've gathered by now that Pat is having a little problem with that with her team right now. Come to think of it, I seem to recall Geno saying he had much the same problem last year. I guess it happens to every team sooner or later at this level. I'm sure the Lady Vols will right the ship in time for a deep run in the NCAAs.
We don't need any more of that drivel from you, manateemo! As you would know, if in fact you knew anything, the game officials were NOT "from the SEC." High-profile inter-conference games like the Rutgers game are ALWAYS called by "neutral" officials, just like the NCAAs; it's in the game contract.

johnlong00....bleeding blue the way I do I know how you feel. You most certainly have my respect.Considering the respect(maybe one can call it fear)I have for PS & LV's, I'm still having nightmares about seeing banner #8 going up this season! As far Geno having same problems last year....its been more like 3 yrs. It's been tough for this senior class at Uconn to measure up to expectations following the success from '00-'04, as it was I'm sure for the LV classes following the run from '96-'98.Watched the TN/Memphis game Sat. Awesome game.Awesome team.Nothing like March when both teams are so good.Have fun with it....

Well, mad_poly_uct, I confess I don't follow UConn as closely as you seem to follow the Lady Vols, so I may well have been wrong about just when Geno thought his team wasn't playing hard enough, or together enough, or whatever it was. "Senioritis" is a not-uncommon malady at any school, especially for a heralded group that feels it has already "been there, done that". I can even understand how the unrelenting perfectionism and intensity of a Pat or a Geno can get on one's nerves after awhile! In any case, Pat has surely seen it all in her career, and I am sure she will find the right buttons to push to keep the Lady Vols among the nation's elite for years to come.

then why did the SEC announce there was no error by the officials? each contract is different for regular season non conference games
