Every Tennessee-Kentucky basketball game is big, but the Wildcats, given up as contenders early in the season, are back and they can prove it Sunday -- or so say their fans.

The Wildcat logic goes like this: The Wildcats are just one game out of first in the SEC East after a tumultuous start; they have already beaten the Vols once; and Thompson-Boling historically has been a friendly litter box (in some years sporting more blue than orange).

Will the Vols end up Sunday losing two No. 1's in a week?

Read the blogger buzz on Sunday's pivotal game (yeah, they're all pivotal now).

Somehow, do it.

Billy G. is a good coach but this Kentucky team is not the one that can come into Thompson-Boling and beat this Tennessee team. Prediction: UT 92 KY 64

Don't think we win by 41 but I'd sure like to see the Vols punch the Cat's ticket to the NIT.

Kentucky is a pretty good defensive team... better than Vandershfincter. I can't believe it, but this could be a tough game. We must come out angry, hungry, and aggressive as hell on offense. Stick with Ramar as long as possible and cram the ball down the lane and down their throats. Drives create opportunities and we must start doing more of that. CBP will have them ready. Go Vols!

VolCane7979, you may have a point about Ramar's value in this game. UK is not that deep inside, so Ramar's drives may really pay off in both points and fouls. I expect us to win by double-digits, but I doubt UK will be as flat against us as they were at Vandy, so I don't see the game as a rout in our favor. I think we just take care of business and lock down that elusive SEC regular-season championship, and go on to secure a #1 seed in the NCAA tournament.

Patrick Patterson will not be playing on Sunday! Sucks for him but not for us!

johnlg00#206211 writes:

It may suck for us, too, cw.... I'll bet our bigs have had Patterson's picture up in their lockers ever since he killed them at UK. It might be a little harder for them to get up against relative no-names; it's just human nature. UK will be playing loose to screw us up since they probably aren't going anywhere now. If Bradley and Crawford are up for their usual iron-man performances, they could make things tough for us in a slow-down game. Can't let up even a little bit now. The stakes are just the same for us as they were before this. GO VOLS!!! SKIN THE (rest of the) 'CATS!!!
