NEW YORK — Newsday reported that New York Jets director of college scouting Joey Clinkscales was interviewed by the Miami Dolphins on Monday as a candidate for their vacant general manager job.
Clinkscales, a former wide receiver at Austin-East High School and the University of Tennessee (1984-86), has been with the Jets for 13 seasons, climbing from a scout to his current position.
Cowboys vice president of pro scouting Jeff Ireland is still considered to be Bill Parcells' top choice for the job. He was expected to interview with the Dolphins on Tuesday. Last week, Cowboys owner Jerry Jones told the Dallas Morning News that Ireland is welcome to advance his career, but not before the April draft is concluded.
The Dolphins would likely prefer to have a GM in place before deciding how to use their top overall pick and could tap Clinkscales based on that time frame.

Nice job Joey. Not bad for a Tyson Jr. High grad.
