Tennessee safety Jonathan Hefney will play in the East-West Shrine Game on Jan. 19.
Hefney, who started all 14 games this season for the Vols and finished with 96 tackles and an interception, is UT’s only player to be named to a post-season all-star game so far.
No UT players will play in next Saturday’s Hula Bowl, however the Jan. 26 Senior Bowl has yet to finalize its rosters.
The Shrine Game will be played at the University of Houston’s Robertson Stadium.

Is this a joke? Most Shriners would juke his sorry ass.He reminds me of Teddy"Big" Gaines and he is from my home town. They called him Big Gaines because that what offenses had when he was on the field. He played it safe this year to protect himself for the draft.Happy to see your lazy ass go.You played with no heart this year.

Seems logical. I seem to remember that the Shriners help young people who are burn victims...

Yeah, Hefney had disappointing season, but there must have been a reason he started over Wardlow, Kemp, Parrish, McKenzie, etc.
I recall Hefney had a big game in beating Spurrier at his house in '06, and I will shake his hand for that if I ever see him. After close loss to LSU in '06, Tiger fans told me, "Y'all's #33 was making plays all over the field!" And I choose to remember Hefney running down P.J.Hill and making a saving tackle in his last game. Thanks, Jonathan, and Good luck.

Yeah you can't beat him down completely. For his career, Hefney has been as solid as they come and I would feel confident in having him in my secondary (if I were a coach that is).
You also must realize that Jonathan had limited physical ability and must have known as much when the likes of Berry showed up last summer. Berry will end up being a first rate position player (as we all knew he would) and that has overshadowed Hefney's accomplishments on the field. Jonathan quietly assumed his role and helped solidify our defense while tutoring Berry.
He will be missed.

Remember too, Guys...the db's had tremendous pressure put on them because of our DL. I think Heff will play on Sundays.

Hefney would have been an All-American at cornerback, but Fulmer in all of his wisdom insists on moving players from their natural positions whenever possible. Hef was a Freshman ALL-SEC (perhaps ALL-AMERICAN?) before "the switch."

Slovog
I've been on this site for years(including the fanaticszone and pay site days) and as clever comments go that's at the top of the list.

Hefney had a down year this year but I wish him the best in his pursuit of NFL glory. The man has given his all for Tennessee and thats all that matters to me. Just my opinion. I'm new to the site. Love it. Born and raised Tennessee fan. Spent 6 years of my life in school here and never missed a home game despite the record. Now I have been exiled to Dayton, OH due to marriage and my job. I miss the South.

some of you can be such dlcks at times....Hefney was a pretty good corner. Not all of his senior year was bad, but he is NOT a safety, IMHO. He can hit, but he makes too many mistakes in coverage.
The pros seem to like some of our db's, such as Rahad Baker and Jabari Greer, as free agents.
