Andre Wadley’s official visit to Tennessee further cemented the Vols in his top three.
The 6-foot-2, 245-pound defensive end from Hernando, Miss., also lists Auburn and Mississippi State in his top trio.
“It was great,” Wadley said of last weekend’s visit to Knoxville. “I liked it. It was pretty cool.”
Wadley said he was particularly impressed with his official hosts: defensive ends Ben Martin and Chris Walker.
Wadley said on-field success will be just part of the equation as he selects his school of choice.
“Tennessee seemed like a pretty good place for me, college wise and school wise,” Wadley said. “I wasn’t just trying to look (at schools) as far as football.”
Wadley has already visited Auburn and will take his official visit to Mississippi State this weekend.
“It’s pretty wide open right now,” he said.
Wadley said Southern Miss, Ole Miss and Alabama are the schools outside his top three still vying for his attention. He said he may even add another official visit to his itinerary, although that’s not the plan at present.
Wadley said he plans to make his decision on or just before National Signing Day on Feb. 6.
“It might be a little earlier,” he said.
Mark Off Marcus: Marcus Davis did not make his official visit to Knoxville last weekend as previously planned. Davis couldn’t make the trip because of a scheduling conflict with his high school basketball team. He is expected to reschedule his visit for later this month.
The 6-4, 220-pound athlete from Ocean Lakes High School in Virginia Beach, Va. is thought to be considering UT, Virginia Tech and Penn State.
UT was expecting 12 official visitors this weekend, but ended up hosting nine.

I would assume the addition of Clawson would be of immediate help in Davis's recruiting. People underestimate the number of Div-I players that come out of coastal Virginia and we should be able to recruit them much better now.
Go Vols!!!

Wow, do we need a quality pass rusher. Take any quality defensive player. Lets at least start back toward Neyland's mantra of putting your "best 11 on defense".

Maybe we will have a chance at this one. No Florida, Georgia, Alabama, LSU, or USC to beat out. WE have had good sucess in the past recruiting Virgina Players.

i hate to hear what happened with some of our players who played host this weekend. None of this helps when kids and their parents are trying to decide on what institution to pick from. I hope a lot of them were not scared off. Recruiting was not going well and now this incident.

He must not have gotten any of the funny grass on his visit.

It doesn't bother me that we are rated #46 in the recruiting wars by Scout, but it does bother me that we are TENTH in the SEC! On ly KY and Vandy rank below us. Even Ole Miss is 39th, with three **** players. The upside is that the other nine schools have offered most of their scholarships, whereas we only have twelve that are taken. Let's see what kind of talent these new coaches may bring to the Hill! Go Vols! SAVol

It's not signing day already is it?
CPF has made a lot of people look foolish in the past by closing strong. This might be his toughest challenge, but I won't bet against him.
Especially with the ag class helping out. (Sorry, but just couldn't resist)

I think we need to do the best we can with this recruiting class, but put it down as a transition year for a lot of reasons. No way we will be in the top 20 nationwide, so let's move on and not worry about it. Think about the teams that have beaten us the last several years without top 20 recruiting classes!! PLEASE, coach Fulmer do not let people like Gerald Jones host recruits. We do not need to waste recruiting visits and coaches time on players like Coker who you eventually will have to dismiss. When I sit in my seats in Neyland on Saturday I want the Big Orange to win as badly as anyone, but I don't want to do it with drug addicts and thugs who may not even be eligible the following week!!!
