The Tennessee women's tennis team has been picked to finish fifth in the SEC Eastern Division in the preseason coaches poll.
The University of Florida was selected as the favorite for the conference championship after reaching the quarterfinals of the NCAA Championships last season, before being defeated by UCLA. The Gators are No. 4 in the Fila/ITA rankings. Georgia was tabbed second, Vanderbilt third, South Carolina fourth and Kentucky sixth.
In the Western Division, Arkansas was picked to win in a tight race over LSU and Auburn. Ole Miss came in fourth, with Alabama and Mississippi State rounding out the bottom two spots.
The preseason poll is voted on by the SEC women’s tennis coaches and is based on a 6-5-4-3-2-1 count.
The Lady Vols will open the spring portion of their schedule on Friday when they host Middle Tennessee State at the Goodfriend Indoor Tennis Center.
