Men's tennis team gets net results

The Tennessee men's tennis team started the new year right Thursday with 7-0 victories over No. 64th Furman and The Citadel at the Goodfriend Indoor Tennis Center.

"It was a good day," UT coach Sam Winterbotham said. "(Associate head coach) Chris (Woodruff) and I were impressed by how much better the guys got in the second match. They played better, which is a direct credit to our strength coaches. The guys played well today, and they look like they are getting to were we need them."

UT has won 10 consecutive home openers.

Against The Citadel, Boris Conkic and Davey Sandgren defeated Daniel Dossetor and James Eason 8-4 at No. 1 doubles. William Lang and Chris Racz came back to win 8-6 over Martin King and Frederic Petrilli at No. 2 to clinch the point for UT. Matteo Fago and Jeremy Tweedt completed the sweep for the Vols winning 8-5 over Alberto Diaz and Yufo Sutantio.

In No. 1 singles, Conkic, ranked No. 28 defeated Dossetor 6-1, 6-2. Fago, Sandgren, Chris Racz, Tweedt and Matt Brewer all won in straight sets.
