Tennessee junior offensive lineman Anthony Parker was arrested and charged with disorderly conduct about 12:30 a.m. Saturday, Knoxville police said.
According to police, the 21-year-old Parker was “being disorderly, yelling loudly and waving his arms in the air,” in the parking lot of the Sutter’s Mill apartment complex shortly after midnight.
Parker’s arrest is the third incident involving a UT player and the fourth player charged by police since Jan. 11.
According to police, Parker refused to leave the parking lot and was then arrested by officer Sam Henard and charged with disorderly conduct, a misdemeanor, police said.
Parker was taken to the Knox County Detention Center, where he was released after posting $500 cash bail.
No other details were immediately available Saturday, and KPD’s full report will not be available until early next week.
Tennessee coach Phillip Fulmer is aware of the situation and will announce any disciplinary action once he is finished investigating the incident, athletic department spokeswoman Tiffany Carpenter said.
On Jan. 11, police cited freshmen wide receivers Ahmad Paige and Gerald Jones with simple possession of marijuana following a traffic stop in the Fort Sanders area near campus.
Early Monday morning, UT police arrested freshman tailback Daryl Vereen for public intoxication after responding to a call of a fight in progress outside Gibbs Hall, a residence hall located across the street from the Neyland-Thompson Sports Center.
Fulmer made the entire team run at 6 o’clock Tuesday morning, as well as subjecting Vereen, Paige and Jones to public service at a drug rehabilitation center and participation in a police ride along.
In addition, Vereen faces a semester-long curfew.
Parker started all 14 games for the Vols this season at left guard, earning consensus first-team All-SEC honors.
The 6-foot-3, 305-pound Parker announced earlier this month that he would remain at UT for his senior season after submitting paperwork to the NFL’s college advisory committee.
Parker has started 27 career games, most of any player currently on Tennessee’s roster.
