Vols lead by seven shots in Arizona

The University of Tennessee men's golf team rode a first-round score of 272 on Monday to take a seven-shot lead into the final day of the Ping Arizona Intercollegiate played at Arizona National Golf Course in Tucson, Ariz.

Second-round play was halted because of darkness and will resume today.

Tennessee holds a seven-stroke lead over Arizona. UNLV is in third, 11 strokes behind. East Tennessee State is fourth, 17 back.

Junior Chris Paisley is in second place individually, five strokes under par with three holes to play in the second round. Paisley shot a 2-under 69 in the first round.

Sophomore David Holmes shot 68 in the first round and is 4-under with three holes to play. He is in seventh place.

The final round will be played today following the completion of the second round.

Brown to Speak at Big Orange Tipoff: Former LSU coach Dale Brown will be the featured speaker at the Big Orange Tipoff Club luncheon Wednesday. The luncheon starts at 11 a.m. at Calhoun's on the River.

Softball: Tennessee senior third baseman/first baseman Tonya Callahan was named to the inaugural 10-member CSTV.com softball Player of the Year Watch List.

Teammate senior catcher Shannon Doepking was among those who received votes.
