Taylor Swift and Montgomery Gentry will headline an Orange and White pre-game celebration April 18 at the University of Tennessee. The Orange and White Game is April 19.
The event at Neyland Stadium will also include a giant pep rally introducing the team, appearances by coaches and former team legends, and a shortened practice, UT officials announced Wednesday.
UT football season ticket-holders will have first opportunity to purchase tickets beginning Thursday through Feb. 8 at the UT box office or online at www.gridironbash.com. Tickets will go on sale to the general public on Feb. 11 and will be $43.

I hope this helps us take back the spring game record from Bama. I think this is probably the intent of all thses extra events going on.
GreerVol22 writes:
my guess is, we think we can duplicate what BAMA did. Better think again boys or you'll be embarrased. The only way that happens is Terell Pryor commits and Fulmer intros the new Spreadcat, Wild-wing, quad-option, goose is loose offense that, that Spiderman brought to town.

greervol-Am I reading this correctly? $43.00 to a spring game with twanging included. Am I missing something here or is the spring game the next day? I feel like I'm on Welcome Back Kotter.
smokey90 writes:
Didn't the spring game used to be free?
NoMoreWooAfterGoodOleRockyTop writes:
$43? What a rip off.
juicetke...don't think you have to worry about breaking any records except maybe the lowest attended spring game in the history of college football.
JAJUAN writes:
easily the biggest ripoff of the year. not a chance i would go to this.
mtnvol writes:
I'm confused....is this a concert with a scrimmage at the end or a scrimmage with an opening act? Not a bad price for the first, but no one will show for the second, IMO.
TommyJack writes:
Hamilton has lost his mind. $43 for O/W game?
That's just tacky.
IdahoVol writes:
If the April 18 date is correct that is a Friday. Sounds like a concert on Friday night for $43 followed by the Spring game the next day (at who knows what ticket price). I agree with mtnvol - $43 for this concert isn't bad but they need to position it as that.
ckwhite writes:
This years spring game will be one of the most interesting one's (with the coaching changes). I think the AD knows that and wants to cash in..
pdhuff#552644 writes:
Well, there went a chance to see a sure win. Gas at $2.97, tickets $43.00 a pop--hmmm, think I'll go fishing.
Tj, we could work concessions. Does $43.00 include a KPD ride-along?
govols8080 writes:
I had considered taking my son to the spring game for his first trip to Neyland Stadium. But $43 bucks has shot that out of the water!

Will Troy Gentry be shooting a bear as an encore?

PD: Heck we could ask $10 per fritter, $5 per ogg. And keep a little MM under the counter.
Fritters $10, AND PAY NO MORE!
TommyJack writes:
Can anyone clarify if tix to the game ONLY are available?
GIVEHIMSIX writes:
i don't like it. I'm not a country fan and I don't want to pay $43 to see the orange and white game. hopefully I'm wrong and the game is still free, but all I want to see is big orange football.
zqvol writes:
This is not the game itself. It will be the next day. This is a pre spring game bash.
wvuvolfan writes:
Have you seen Montgomery Gentry lately. The way they have beefed up, could be our DT,DE answers!
mtnbikrtn writes:
They don't have enough speed for the SEC. How can you wear that big black hat under a helmet anyway.

It's not easy being the little man is it Dupree. I know how you feel.
rabidvol1998 writes:
Unfortunately I don't think we can set the record this year due to constructuion. If I heard Sports Talk right, the capacity of the stadium during that period of time will only be 50,000.
I assume the $43 is for the concert, not the game.
cjraney writes:
The concert is Friday, game is Saturday. This is an event put on by a New York company and will include concerts nationwide at around 20 universities (I think)in conjunction with spring games. There's also some sort of contest.

Anyone know the pricing for the O & W Game?
andy112382#209793 writes:
Is it $43 for the pregame concert, etc as a seperate event and the O/W game free, or is it going to be packaged together?
cdldoc#211897 writes:
Dupree, poboy, we will give you the money for the game and tdtn will carry you and yorn to the game. I will even introduce you to my friends, Taylor and Montgomery. Just post your real name and real address here, poboy. We'uns feel so bad about yor condition.

Retard. That is soooo funny. Seriously, I'm laughing.

Here's some info for everyone. It looks like the $43 is for everything the afternnon on Fri before the game on Sat.

TDTN, you sure you don't know Ol' Dupree? He's not kin to 12TIMES or Airforceone, is he?
I bet he knows Vol4Jesus. If not, he should. Sjt18 will ferret him out. That boy can research.
Beat MSU.
pdhuff#552644 writes:
DennisVol - thanks for the info, but will the QB be able to call the play over a steel guitar sound? Or will it be like golf, excuse me , just playing through. Oh, different day. May go now.
DennisVols writes:
After reading the whole article it seems that the $43 is for a event on Fri. which include the concert, introducing of the team, some kind of contest and getting to watch a shorten practic.
The O&W game is still on for Sat. Sounds like they believe more folks will come to town for the extra day of stuff and then go to the game Sat.
Not sure on the pricing but if I am correct the $43 will cover both days and there will be tickets for the game Sat seperatly for those who don't want to spend so much.

You can catch Carp and Catfish on that dock down below the stadium. Take a radio and it will almost be like you are there.

Talk about retards, I can't believe it took some of our most prolific posters 1 hour and 50 minutes, (until 4:50 p.m.) to figure out that the $43 bucks is for the concert and etc. not for the game. The article says it is scheduled for April 18 which is a FRIDAY, that should have been a clue. The game is on Saturday as always.
givehim6 writes:
Well I gess someone has to pay for new salaries for these new coaches, and new construction.
MrBamSeydu writes:
wow, $43 to hear about how someone's dog died, their cowboy boots got ruint, and their wife hid their can of skoal yesterdee mornin'..... i think i'll just watch the replay of the O/W game on CSS for free.
UT has GOTTA come up with better ideas than this to get fans involved. $43 for redneck fest 08 isn't doing it.

The carp and radio comment is pretty durn funny.
BigOrangeVol writes:
Vandy had free hotdogs and The VeggieTales! Oooops, that was for their season opener against Richmond and they were STILL 10,000 under capacity. Nevermind.
Free tickets to the baseball game after the O&W has always been nice; I like that. What about an old-timers flag footbal game? How cool would it be to watch the '85 team vs the '91 team?
I guess I'll take Friday off and hit one of our clean TWRA lakes and haul in some nice 5# catfish for supper.
clausenforheisman writes:
WHAT???? NO KENNEY CHESNEY??? Oh I guess he will be in Gainsville that weekend. And I thought Montgomery Gentry were Kentucky boys, Sanders must have something up his sleeve.
LargeOrange writes:
Some may remember that the Friday night before the 2006 Cal opener, Montgomery Gentry performed at the World's Fair site. My wife and I drove up from Atlanta early and went to the concert and the other activities before that game and had an absolute blast. Eddie Montgomery even changed the lyrics during one song to say something to the effect of "tomorrow when the VOLS kick some Cal Bears a$$" it was worth the ticket price! And turned out to be accurate, too! I will be there with bells on (around my red neck)on April 18th, sounds like a lot of fun.

Don't knock the VeggieTales BigOrangeVol. My two-year-old is a huge fan (and ole' Dad here thinks they're pretty dang funny - though not as funny as Vanderbilt football).
I can't believe some of you guys missed an obvious one-liner (one I don't necessarily endorse, but I'm good for cheap laughs). "Watching Fulmer with a headset will make you realize that Taylor was the only Swift one in Neyland with a microphone." (Insert groan here......)
MrBamSeydu writes:
No.... noone missed that one-liner because it was non-existent. Don't quit your day job Hunter.

"the first of its kind in Neyland"? Anyone remember the Michael Jackson concert debacle? Ha!
cwisenhower#637741 writes:
Why is the game on a Friday? Pardon my ignorance, but I thought college football was played on Saturdays.
And are Montgomery Gentry and Taylor Swift true Vol fans, or just fans for the one day because they're getting a giant paycheck?
chrisw2967 writes:
Id pay $43 only if they would set up a basketball court at mid field to watch Pearl and company play a basketball game and then the next day watch the O/W game , I think they could sale out Neyland alot faster that way and make alot more money ? Im sure that would be a record 107.000 fans to watch a basketball game ?

Boy, it doesnt take much to generate negative comments, why do some of you go to UT or read the news!!
Enjoy a great event. Not only is there a spring game, but a concert too.
Great concert for those that wish to partake with extra football events for acharge.
The Orange White game is FREE- enjoy it, and try and be happy....

FREE-Now you're talking our language. I can swing by Ralph's and get 3 fritters. Eat one while filling up on good ol' $2.97 petrol. Second one with a cold Bud lite tailgating. Nirvana.
Watch Vols mull around for 2 hours. Motor back into the doldrums. Try to get interested in Jr driving non-alcoholic car. Hoping Pearl's boys can rebound. Spring doldrums are closing in.
I can get all the "My baby stole the coil wire off my F-150" from local stations. Probably miss the concert. Can't have everything.
TommyJack writes:
Montgomery-Gentry huh? Whip dee doo. Those 2 bozo's look like they've been spending too much time pounding down the fritters.

Truly unfortunate.
With 2yr-old twins, and a bigger sister who loves going to games, we've been looking forward to this spring game for months to give them their first Neyland Stadium experience.
I was heartbroken to hear about this on the radio this morning. We're not paying $215 for the five of us to go.
And actually, it's not so much the money as it is the principle. It's a spring scrimmage for crying out loud. Why make it a money grab?
Thanks Mike Hamilton for putting dollars ahead of the little kids in the region for whom this is their only chance of experiencing football with their whole family inside the stadium.
TommyJack writes:
TD: Hardly a rap fan. I have no problem believing your last sentence.
orangebloodgmc writes:
The writer of article should have made it abundantly clear if he was talking about $43 to get to see the O&W game or if it was just for the pep rally and music. Obviously posters are not clear about this. Hamilton should scramble to straighten it out.

but I just emailed the writer and he responded:
"game is free.
concert is $43."
So come on up to the game this spring.
