Four Tennessee football players have been named to separate preseason awards watch lists.

Sophomore safety Eric Berry and junior linebacker Rico McCoy made the initial Chuck Bednarik Award Watch List.

Senior tailback Arian Foster and junior quarterback Jonathan Crompton, meanwhile, are in the early running for the Maxwell Award.

The Maxwell Award has been presented to the outstanding collegiate football player in America since 1937. The Chuck Bednarik Award has been presented since 1995 to the nation's top defensive player.

Semifinalists for both awards will be announced in early November with three finalists for each being announced Nov. 25.
