Add Jevon Tarantino’s name to the list of former University of Tennessee athletes headed to Beijing for the Olympics.
Selection for the final spots on the U.S. diving team were announced this morning and Tarantino is going as part of the 3-meter synchronized diving team with former Georgia star Chris Colwill.
Colwill also made the team in 3-meter individual. Also named to the team are Nancilea Underwood Foster in 3-meter, Thomas Finchum (10-meter), Haley Ishimatsu (10-meter), Kelci Bryant and Ariel Rittenhouse (3-meter syncho), Finchum and David Boudia (10-meter syncho), Ishimatsu and Mary Beth Dunnichay (10-meter syncho).
The selections came after a weeklong U.S. diving camp at the University of Tennessee.
Those named Monday are added to a list that already included Troy Dumais (3-meter) and Laura Wilkinson (10-meter) who made the team by winning at the Olympic trials in June at Indianapolis.
More details later online and in Tuesday's News Sentinel.

Synchronized diving is one of the hokey events now in the Olympic programme designed to appeal to television and the American public -- and to make a few more dollars. This really isn't a sport. But good for Jevon anyhhow.
