Tarmoh has fastest time heading into world junior 100 finals
Tennessee Lady Vols freshman Jeneba Tarmoh advanced through two rounds of the 100-meter dash Tuesday at the 21st annual IAAF World Junior Championships at Bydgoszcz City Stadium in Poland.
Tarmoh cruised into Wednesday's final by posting the fastest time in the semifinals at 11.38 seconds to easily win heat three. Heat two winner Ashlee Nelson of Great Britain had the second best time in 11.43.
“My focus was to get out strong and finish hard,” said Tarmoh. “The conditions were pretty good and everything went really well with my race. Now I’m aiming for gold in the final.”
In the first round, Tarmoh crossed the finish line first in heat two at 11.56. Nelson's 11.55, which won heat one, was the only effort better than Tarmoh.
