Tennessee catcher Blake Forsythe was picked to play in the Coastal Plain League all-star game Friday, but he won't be playing.
Forsythe, who plays for Thomasville (N.C.), was injured in a baseline collision during Thursday night's game with Outer Banks. He suffered a slight ankle sprain. The injury is not serious, but Forsythe was fitted for a walking boot and will miss several games.
On Friday, Forsythe was named to the American team for the all-star game that will be played Tuesday in Asheboro, N.C.
Forsythe leads Thomasville with seven home runs, which is tied for second in the CPL. He is batting .208.
The Coastal Plain League features 14 teams playing in North Carolina, South Carolina and Virginia. The CPL gives college players the chance to refine their skills with the use of wooden bats. Players are housed with local host families for the summer and past experiences have been very positive for both players and hosts. just curious how you make allstars batting .208? 2nd in homers in CPL gets you there?
