Layne wins gold in Mexico
It was a gold medal weekend for University of Tennessee sprinter Lynne Layne.
The Lady Vol rising sophomore helped the United States win the 4X100-meter relay Saturday at the North America, Central America and Caribbean (NACAC) Under 23 Championships at Estadio Universitario in Toluca, Mexico.
Layne ran the third leg, joining Jessica Onyepunuka, Tawanna Meadows and Scottesha Miller, as the Americans edged Jamaica by .09 second in a time of 43.64. The Dominican Republic was a distant third at 46.23.
The NACAC Athletic Association’s U23 Championships are held every two years in one of the association's 32 member nations.
