Four Vols named to first-team preseason All-SEC by league coaches

Tennessee had four players named first-team preseason All-SEC by league coaches, the conference announced Monday.

Running back Arian Foster and offensive lineman Anthony Parker were named to the first-team offense, while linebacker Rico McCoy and safety Eric Berry were named to the first-team defense.

All told, the Vols had seven players named to list.

Offensive tackle Ramon Foster was a second-team selection, while wide receiver Lucas Taylor was a third-team choice. Center Josh McNeil was also a third-team selection.

No specialists were selected, and McCoy and Berry were the only defensive players on the list.

Florida led all teams with five first-team selections, followed by LSU and Tennessee, both with four.

Overall, Florida had the most selections with 10, followed by Georgia (nine), Alabama (eight), Auburn (eight), South Carolina (eight), Tennessee (seven), Kentucky (five), Ole Miss (four), Mississippi State (four), Arkansas (three), Vanderbilt (two).

Six players were unanimous selections: Alabama’s Andre Smith, Arkansas’ Jonathan Luigs, Ole Miss’ Michael Oher, Georgia’s Knowshon Moreno, Ole Miss’ Greg Hardy, Florida’s Brandon Spikes and Tennessee’s Parker.

Coaches were not allowed to vote for their own players. The media’s preseason All-SEC team will be announced during SEC media days this week in Birmingham, Ala.

Drew Edwards covers University of Tennessee football. He may be reached at 865-342-6274.

look for Gerald Jones to have an outstanding year

Posted by sjt18 on July 21, 2008 at 2:43 p.m. (Suggest removal)

This has to be a joke. Massaquoi? UT fans pick on Rogers because he dropped a few... but he also caught alot. Massaquoi's whole career has been dropping balls all over the field. Both Rogers and Briscoe had more catches and yardage than Massaquoi... Guess that's what hype gets you?

Oh yeah, in comparison to that group... What exactly does Big Dan have to do to get at least a 3rd team nod?

Good job guys. Let's turn those pre-season honors into wins and post-season honors.

GO Vols!

sjt,

Dan probably should have gone to Georgia, that would have helped his chances to get on this list...HYPE HYPE HYPE...time to back it up Georgia, good luck with that schedule.

Lee Ziemba is at Auburn, not Tennessee!

Frank in Miami

Sjt18, our minds think alike. Massaquoi is just another example of how overratted the dawgs are this season. 73 catches and 1000 yards from Lucas Taylor could not touch the absolute pathetic year Massaquoi had last year,HUH??? Lee Zimbia???? Who the H###? Poor Josh McNiel, an NFL talent and probably a top 5 center nationally. But since 3 of the top 5 C are in the SEC, he really get's overlooked.

glad to know kns gave us a player named lee ziemba. i hope he's good

Posted by General_Watermelon on July 21, 2008 at 2:57 p.m. (Suggest removal)

I understand why he didn't make the list (out of sight out of mind), but at season's end (if he keeps the grades up), Mr. Morely will easily make this list. If there was a player more impressive than Berry in the O&W Game, it was Morely. He blew up a WR coming across the middle (they had to sweep him up) and he had an IT as well. The guy is good. Moorely reminds me a lot of Dale Carter -not quite as good, but not far from it.

DaddyVol and Sjt18,

Do teams have to plan a defense around stopping Taylor, Roscoe, and Briscoe? There's your answer.

Hey mo... Do teams have to plan a defense around stopping Massaquoi, K Williams, or several other players on that list?

There's your answer. Dickey Lyons is better than Massaquoi.

Jonathan Crompton not first team qb? what are you guys thinking? dont try to make up for it at the end of the year! too late then. but i want to be the first to tell you, I TOLD YOU SO! I guess you dont have to be too smart to be a coach.

Little surprised by Foster and Taylor getting these nods, although they are both deserved. Both were really overlooked last year by anyone outside TN. I look for Foster to have a huge year.

Preseason awards are what they're worth. I'd rather have some post-season awards.

HAHAHAHA! John Parker Wilson!!!!

Sadly enough, he doesn't get to play TN 12 times this year

Wow! Not sure about some of these choices. Good for our guys being mentioned, but leaving Morely off even though he is being readmitted to the the university is ludicrous. Only having two defensive players should motivate the rest of the guys for sure.

Posted by General_Watermelon on July 21, 2008 at 3:31 p.m. (Suggest removal)

SeanJean - not much is the answer. Who would you put in front of him. The SEC is not at strong at QB this year. Crompton doesn't deserve attention given his lack of snaps, so don't even go there.
I think for Alabama's Parker to the rated #3rd says it all about the SEC being down at QB this year. Bodes well for Florida - Heisman or Bust.

Why do UT fans get a bad rap? See sjt18 and DaddyVol....
Our guy's don't get the recognition they should..........WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!!!!
Our guys are better than their guys......WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!!!!!!!

For you to call me the NOTSOSMART one is NOTSOSMART on your part. This was a coaches poll. A coaches poll that consists of 12 of the best coaches in the country (well maybe 11). When did you two earn the credentials to decide who was better? Sjt18's hero and mentor Fulmer took part in this poll so therefore it must be a good and true poll right?

Posted by DennisVols on July 21, 2008 at 3:33 p.m. (Suggest removal)

What does it say that last years Heisman winner was not a Unanimous selection?
At the end of the year Crompton's name will be on the list. Numbers won't lie and the results will make him 1st or 2nd team.

Posted by sjt18 on July 21, 2008 at 3:43 p.m. (Suggest removal)

Hey mo. There are other WR's around the conf that deserve it more than Massaquoi. He wasn't productive last year and he's made a career of dropping passes.

My credentials? Don't need any when Massaquoi gets this honor ahead of about 7 returning WR's with better stats than his.

Why do UT fans get a bad rap?... Look in the mirror.

Posted by longtimefan on July 21, 2008 at 3:46 p.m. (Suggest removal)

have a little faith General! i'll take Jon over any of those BOZOS! anyday! all day!

Posted by raynochonspeed on July 21, 2008 at 3:49 p.m. (Suggest removal)

Remember who's voting. The coaches.

They rarely have the luxury of watching as many games per weekend as we do, and they watch them with a different perspective.

This, I surmise, is the only realistic explanation for Eric Berry NOT being a unanimous selection, because anyone who saw him play from Week 4 on last year knows he is already deserved of that honor.

Posted by BigMix on July 21, 2008 at 3:51 p.m. (Suggest removal)

How can the heisman trophy winner not be the unanimous QB?

Posted by BSweet on July 21, 2008 at 3:53 p.m. (Suggest removal)

General W, I completely agree that Morley will make this list by the end of the year. I also think if our secondary plays to potential, at least one more DB will make at least 3rd team. Hopefully a WR or two will emerge this year and make the list as well. Nothing against Taylor, but I expect other receivers to have better years. If somehow the stars align, and things fall just right, I hope for break out years for Dan Williams and Ben Martin. That would leave me giddy as a little school girl. :)And I think McClendon could have a great year on the o-line and make this list by year's end as well.

Posted by b_neas on July 21, 2008 at 3:54 p.m. (Suggest removal)

How many yards did this wonderful Knowshon have against UT again last year? I still dont see why everyone is on his jock so. Or Ga's for that matter. 86-47 in the last 2 meetings. Total combined scores, you guess who had 86.

Posted by RichRollin on July 21, 2008 at 3:57 p.m. (Suggest removal)

Pleasegetridof@3:01pm:"Do teams have to plan a D around stopping Taylor, Rogers, and Briscoe?" We may not have an individual WR that dominates, but yes they do have to set up a scheme for all 3. I hope I see the day when a D coordinator does not worry about our entire recieving core. Let's see, should a D-coordinator worry more about Massaquio this season, or the vicious Knowshon Moreno/ Caleb King duo?? Should I even waste my time trying to explain this to you?

Posted by General_Watermelon on July 21, 2008 at 4:01 p.m. (Suggest removal)

longtimefan - I do have faith in Jon Crompton. I just don't think a QB with as little experience as he has should be considered for ALL-SEC. WHy would he? He hasn't done anything yet. I am cautiously optimistic that he will be on the list going into next year.

Posted by General_Watermelon on July 21, 2008 at 4:02 p.m. (Suggest removal)

I don't agree with sjt18 on everything, but I do agree that Massaquoio is over rated. He was a largely a bust last season.

Posted by BSweet on July 21, 2008 at 4:04 p.m. (Suggest removal)

Hmmm... I am not a Tebow fan, but how is it he wasn't a unanimous decision? I started wondering maybe who it was that didn't vote for him. First thought was CPF for some reason, but after thinking it over, I kind of wonder if it was the old ball coach. Timmy doesn't exactly fit the mold of a Spurrier qb and we all know how much Stevie loves his qbs. Somehow I think Stafford would be more to Spurrier's liking.

What General said...

Posted by RichRollin on July 21, 2008 at 4:07 p.m. (Suggest removal)

Hey General, I watched Morley at O/W game and he was FABULOUS!!!! I think that was Quinton Hancock that he murdered over the middle. He is a threat like Berry once his hands touch that ball too. He kinda reminds me of Ed Reed with his body language and the way he covers centerfield, not to mention the #20 he wore 2 years ago. But the hit on Hancock shows a very physical side, which is why I like General's comparison to Dale Carter. A mixture of Ed Reed and Dale Carter, He's sure to make ALL-SEC!!

Posted by General_Watermelon on July 21, 2008 at 4:08 p.m. (Suggest removal)

Spurrier would love to have Stafford. He also recruited Jon Crompton VERY hard.

Don't get worked up on pre season polls and rankings. The lower we are, the better we perform--or so it seems. The only problem with preseason polls is that many become an unfulfilled prophecy at the end of the year with everything else being equal.

Posted by General_Watermelon on July 21, 2008 at 4:10 p.m. (Suggest removal)

Yes Daddy. That was Quinton Hancock who looked (at least in that scrimmage) as one of our best WR's. He sure got belted by Morely. I turned to my buddy and said "SAME TEAM.....DANG - save some of that for Florida."

Posted by BSweet on July 21, 2008 at 4:16 p.m. (Suggest removal)

Again, I agree with the General, for he is wise and all-knowing, lol. JC has not proven a thing. We all hope he will be great. I definately think he has the tools, but will it all come together? I hope so, but there's a reason for the season, and that's to let things be decided on the field of play. I think the Vols have the potential for greatness with this team, but it all has to come together. I know we have our weaknesses and that there are lots of areas that remain questionable, but I think we have personnel at all positions that could step up and be strong. The question is will they? If Fulmer and the staff coach these boys right, they will. I think this is one of those seasons where we will really see just how good our coaching staff is, or isn't. It should definately be an exciting and interesting season. I expect this board will be lit up all season long.

Posted by tngeoff on July 21, 2008 at 4:20 p.m. (Suggest removal)

BSweet.

Just a thought. Talking about Cromptons "tools" in an active thread with Tebow in the mix is a recipe for distateful comments. I agree that the General is wise and all knowing and if I hadn't beaten him to it I'll bet the would helped you the same way.

Genera, Hancock looked good inO/W game this year, and I thought he looked even better last year in O/W game. Wonder what the deal is there? Plus with very limited PT, didn't he make some plays when he got a chance late last year?

Three Florida DB's on 3rd team. I've seen comments that they aren't very good back there, but the coaches seem to think they have some talent.

Posted by longtimefan on July 21, 2008 at 4:43 p.m. (Suggest removal)

BSweet, yes, you and the General are right, but its hard to prove anything when you cant get on the field. if your starting qb is hurt, why not let him sit for a game and let your backup play? if he cant do the job then put your starter in. Ainge played hurt anyway! at least he could have got some experience.

With Training Camp getting ready to start in the NFL, any chance we get some info on former Vols and where they are and how they are faring? As much as I enjoy reading about Kenny Stabler, something else may be a little more to my liking.

I would definitely like to get some info on Meachem. Poor guy, just hope he sees a uni this year, sheesh!!

General, Agree on Crompton. If he has a great season then his honors lie on the other side. Same thing for J Sneed and whoever ends up QB at Aub and USC.

You can't put him in there right now... but that hardly means that Wilson or Stafford really deserve it either. Neither are as good now as Ainge was heading into last year.

I really don't have a problem with most of those picks as pre-season All-SEC. Just Massaquoi being in and Big Dan getting no love at all.

Posted by BSweet on July 21, 2008 at 5:03 p.m. (Suggest removal)

Geoff, ouch! I really hadn't thought of that. Let's keep Timmy away from sharp instruments. It brings a new meaning to "running with scissors".

John Sarah Jessica Parker Wilson Phillips for Heisman! This guy is outstanding! To heck with Tebow. How was he not the consensus 1st team selection?

Posted by RJ_Vol on July 21, 2008 at 5:12 p.m. (Suggest removal)

Thanks, Drew! I can't believe we didn't have any special teamers named...No, I am just kidding. Jasper Brinkley is second team LB!? If he stays healthy, he may be first team All-American. If Morley can make the grades, he will be at least second team All-SEC IMO.

On a tangent...Has anyone heard about Chris Donald's progress? I would think he would be getting in the mix soon. Someone brought him up on another thread recently as a potentially good, upcoming LB? What's the word? Also, will Abrams-Ward get into the receiver/TE rotation as a true freshman? He seems too good to leave on the bench at 6'5"...Assuming Gerald Williams gets to play, does he go to DE or LB? As I write this, it seems Tenn has a lot of unproven talent w/ much upside.

John Jacob Jingleheimer Smith Parker Woodrow Owen Wilson became a Heisman candidate last year due to our loose coverage. If someone watched tape from that game, I don't know how you'd rate our DBs. We played so far off Bama's receivers that you couldn't even see our DBs on TV! Seriously, for me seeing the Vols lose to Alabama is way worse than losing to UF. Let's get those two things corrected this year!

"What does it say that last years Heisman winner was not a Unanimous selection?"

It says to me not to pay any attention to this list DennisVols. I am obviously not a FL fan but whoever didn't vote Tebow should be ashamed of themselves.

Stafford and Wilson got on the list pretty much by default. Beyond those two and Tebow, QB is pretty much an unproven or underwhelming position across the SEC. Not knocking Crompton, but he has to prove himself on the field first and I think he'll get plenty of recognition at the end of the year.

Posted by sjt18 on July 21, 2008 at 5:29 p.m. (Suggest removal)

DCFL, if you are going to award this on the basis of talent and potential... Vinson and Willingham have just as much business on the 3rd team as UF's three guys.

Vinson was better than Pierre-Louis even after converting to CB during the season and playing with one arm.

If Wright deserves it... Morley definitely does.

RJ-

I seem to remember a few plays where John - Jessica dropped back, had all day before the pass rush got there, then (s)he had to throw up an absolute duck of a prayer of a pass as (s)he was being leveled, and the dang ball still found a way to come down in a Bammer reciever's hands. God was on Bammer's side last year. St. Peter probably wasn't equipped to deal with all the Bammer suicides if they had lost to ULM, Auburn, and UT all in the same year.

"Whatever you do, never look at teams or players outside of Knoxville."

Precisely what I was doing Mo. Wright and Pierre-Louis have no more business as 3rd team preseason SEC selections than Morley or Vinson. Maybe the coaches ran out of guys they thought were any good? I don't know.

IBleedOrange444 -

I understand where you are coming from. I am maybe a little too harsh on the team and program but some people like yourself (and the coach) are not harsh enough. I firmly believe that is why there has not been a SEC championship in 10 years. Everyone has become so complacent on losing 3 games every year and that generally is what happens. Life is too short and the time goes by too fast for me to accept this year in and year out. I simply demand more out of this program and refuse to support it until it happens. Call me a fair-weathered fan if you want. Just as I call you all idiots for believing that things are going to get better under this coach.

Hey Mo. Being demanding doesn't mean throwing all vestiges of objectivity out the window. You can easily be critical of things that are bad and costing the team without claiming that even the good is bad.

Well call me the perpetual optimist, but I still think we can get it done under Fulmer. If we can't win the SEC in the next two years, I'll be singing a different tune.

I hate the way our schedule sets up this year with virtually all of our SEC East foes getting a bye week before they play us, and I'd really like to see the UF game moved back in the schedule towards the end of the season. That game usually plays a key role in who represents the East in the SECCG so you'd think they would want to move it back to hype it up even more. You gotta play the hand you're dealt though.

I'll keep the Kool Aid cold 'till September rolls around!

Just watched the UT 2007 season DVD including the Georgia game...

I know it's only one game but Georgia only had one drive that was any good (and that touchdown was a prayer pass)...the other touchdown they scored was a terrible pass interference call on Marsalous Johnson on his interception...

Knowshon was a joke (30 yds rushing), and Stafford was extremely mediocre...so they are supposed to survive a murderous schedule and are early favorites for #1? I'm confused...

IBO, other than for guys who have minor injuries, I don't think bye weeks have really helped UT alot.

I like UAB right in front of UF and NIU right in front of UGA. UF before Aub is tough as is the MSU, Bama, USC stretch.

Aub will be coming off LSU though. Bama will have played Ole Miss who may be improved this year.

I don't have any objection to UGA being pre-season #1. Who would you put in their place? That'll just make us look that much better when we drag 'em out from between them hedges and back behind the woodshed.

UF and USCw for starters. I see what you're saying as far as potentially helping UT... but UGA just doesn't deserve it.

Unfortunately I had to watch the bama game shortly thereafter...and personally I don't think the Satan onside kick had any effect on the team...We came back strong and went up 14-10. Then the lack of Briscoe, Taylor caught up with us and the db's started giving 10 yards slack on DJ Hall every play...

I'm not entirely convinced that Daniel Lincoln shouldn't be All-SEC either...he was huge last year, and as a freshman, I don't recall many that have been better...

The bye weeks may not be too helpful but they'll give the other coaches an extra week to game plan for the new look offense as well as for the players to heal up. Hopefully Auburn gets dinged up pretty good by LSU. I'm hoping we get a rematch with them in the SECCG. A bunch of my friends out here are from New Orleans so I want some payback sh_t talking rights. I just hope playing those bums (UAB and NIU) right before what will arguably be the best two teams we will play all year doesn't lull us to sleep.

I can see UF, but their "D" has got to be a lot better than last year. My Pan Southernism (to use a term coined by Nashville's own Clay Travis) won't allow me to put USC at the top until they prove it on the field. IMO, the Buckeyes shouldn't even be allowed to play in a NC game again for another 2 years after their back-to-back epic failures. I think 2 real contenders that aren't garnering a lot of attention due to their respective conferences are West Virginia and Clemson. They're both stacked but either one will have to run the table to get a shot at the NC and it is almost a given that Clemson will choke up somewhere along the line. I could see Oklahoma as #1 with Sam Bradford coming back a year older and wiser and all of the great athletes around him. Other than that, I'd have to agree with the pundits and put UGA at the top.

I cant prove it because the article was about 3 wks or a month ago. ESPN was running down the SEC and their guy said TN's DB's would be the best in the SEC overall. I have read something to that effect on CBS sports. They remembered Morley before his academic problems and said he was an EB type safety. Maybe sjt or some others read the same thing. I understand you UFers cant bring yourselves to believe that one of our groups could be better than the mighty gators groups, but I truley believe that you will admit it when you see it for yourselves.

Yeah, we lost Morely for a year due to grades, but he looked very much the part of a 5 star before he got the axe. Vinson was going to be a reciever until the lack of depth forced him into action in the secondary. It was a trial by fire, but he'll be ready to go this year.

I never said they should be on the list ahead of UF's guys, but I can see how some could make that case. Bottom line is that list doesn't mean squat. I just like giving y'all a hard time 'cause you're Gayter fans.

I made it a point to watch him at the O&W game. As 85 said, he was absolutely all over the place. He looked very good. He and Berry looked like they had been communicating longer than just the spring.

DCflorida - You are right that we should have "gotten" your DB's last year, except that our inexperienced WR's plus a QB with a badly broken finger on his throwing hand (plus an undisclosed shoulder injury) left us ill-equipped to take advantage of them. And you also have a good point on Morley - we'd beaten LSU in 2006 if he simply broke up a 4th down pass he was in position to break up. I don't think you improve that much with a year away from football.

But, he does have athletic prowess and apparently a renewed hunger. We shall see if he is the playmaker he potentially can be.

DC,

Whoa brother, where'd all that venom come from :)

Seriously, pre-season awards are a bunch of trash. Berry and Wright are very comparable in terms of talent IMO. Vinson is a better athlete than Wondy, but Wondy may be a better corner at this stage of the game. Will Hill will probably be the starter come UT time, but I'd take Morley over Hill until I see him play college ball (not being condescending, just saying I'll withold judgement). Comes down to overall depth, and UF can not match our secondary there IMO

Let's wait until the season's dust settles and then dispute the SEC Awards, but I will say Percy and Tebow NOT being unanimous should tell us all we need to know about the politics of pre season polling.

Food for thought....what if opposing coaches hyped up a certain unit they had plans of undressing for the purpose of making their efforts look even better? Not as outrageous as some may think.

Will Hill will be an absolutley great player. DC, do you re4member the Auburn game where wright hit their RB. I mean Auburns RB was in open field running full spead. He met Major Wright running full speed. Both kept going fullspeed, but auburn RB after the hit went full speed in reverse. A hit that kinda' reminded me of the hit Atwater put on Christian Okoye that time. I still don't like him, but got much respect and I do like his type!

Posted by RichRollin on July 21, 2008 at 9:19 p.m. (Suggest removal)

Any freshman safety in D-1 should not put 220lb. RB's on their A55, but he did. Taylor Mayes for USC trojans is the best safety in the country hands down. I know vol fans will disagree but the truth is the truth. But Berry is top3 and Wright is a top 5 Safety. He won't get credit for it now but by seasons end, he will be. Will Hill on the other hand will need 4-5 SEC games to catch up, Kinda like Berry did last year. That's where Morley having SEC experience is gonna take our DB's to the next level.

Well looking at Will Hill's profile, it looks like the Gayters got themselves a good one. There's no doubt he'll be billed as UF's answer to E.B.

We'll see how it plays out on the field. A couple things that stood out to me on the two profiles side-by-side:

1) E.B. has got Jill Lill beat in the speed department.

2) He's got Little Jilly beat in the intelligence department.

3) And let's face it; your boy Jill looks like a poor man's O-Dogg from Menace To Society.

Y'all can keep him.

That one on Hester looked like wright was at a stand still, so I'll give him that. The one on Rainey looked much like the one against Auburn, but Auburn back was 220lb. If Major Wright and Eric Berry were on the same team, people would DIE, and there ain't no 2 ways about it!!

McBrim, you're probably right about one thing. If Peyton had beat the gators, he probably would have won the Heisman. But any way you look at it, he got hosed. That's just the excuse they used to give it to a defensive player. But that's okay, he's probably better off not having won it. We all know how successful those Heisman qbs are at the next level. I mean lets look at the stellar NFL careers of Andre Ware, Gino Toretta, Eric Crouch, and FL's very own Danny Wuerffel. Betcha Danny would trade that oversized paperweight for Peyton's SuperBowl ring any day of the week. It's yet to be seen how Timmy will be in the NFL, but if he thinks he can run in the show like he does in college, well, his career will be short. I give him his props, he is a great college qb. But great in college doesn't always mean great in the NFL. Just ask any of my previous examples.

IBO, I almost mentioned OU. They like USCw have a schedule difficult enough to be respectable but easy enough to negotiate undefeated.

Bullish on Clemson. They have a good opportunity to go undefeated if they don't choke.

Bearish on WVU. The shine of the new coach will wear off quickly. He isn't nearly as talented as Rich Rodriguez.

DCFL, ALOT of the analysts know UT's DB's and rank them among the best in the country.

Berry isn't the best athlete on UT's team though that is often repeated by those who don't follow the team closely. Vinson is an athlete that Berry stands in awe of. I believe Berry called him a "freak".

Vinson started last season as a WR. Sometime after UF I believe is when he converted. By the end of the season, teams had stopped throwing his way very often. Last year, he played on almost all instinct and raw talent... now he's had a whole year to work on technique.

I just don't see the point in posters like McBrim who like to drop a snide comment here and there yet avoid an actual dialogue. Every one is entitled to their opinion, but at least have the nards to have an actual conversation and defend your opinion. You sir, are a gentleman. You will actually hold a conversation and discuss things civilly. And my experience with DC is that he will normally as well. Not all the time, but normally. To be honest, you two were thrown out there because you were the first two gator fans I thought of, and for that, I do apologize. Refering to an earlier post you made, I, like you, am surprised Tebow wasn't a unanimous choice. I understand Harvin not being unanimous a little because he does seem to get bit by the injury bug. I think he has loads of talent and is a huge threat, but if he can't avoid the injuries... I think if he can have an injury free year he will be unanimous on the final tally. He's just got to show some durability.

i just think, forgive me, that it is rude to go to another teams website and give people the business. if they came on a gator website, fine, fair game.

not everything i say about tennessee is positive. but, i try to make an argument that is presented with some sort of respect.

i am not perfect in this regard.....because after all, we are talking about football. but, i try to remember that i am intruding on other people's turf.

99- Thank you! There is something to be said for civility. You don't walk into another man's house uninvited and slap his wife and tell him that his dog's ugly.

DC- I'm sorry you feel that way. McBrim is a pathetic troll hiding behind anonymity who's only purpose is to be rude and hateful. But I mean that in the nicest way.(yes that's me actually using sarcasm) I don't troll gator fan sites hiding behind a screen name leaving a trail of bile and vitriol behind me. I'm sure there are vol fans who do, but I have no respect for them. Simply put, if you can't play nice, then please, feel free to take your ball and go home.

DCf: I would be willing to risk it with respect to the entertainment factor...GGX needed.

DC, Just promise that you'll come back after the game this year and after any potential UF loss, OK? Don't be someone who talks smack then disappears when they have to eat their words.

I expect UF to have a good year. I think that UT has the best shot at beating them. The Vols should have a better team than many are expecting and playing in K'ville should help.

If UT wins, I'll be here. If they lose, I'll be here. I suspect that 99gator will be here either way too. Will you? I sincerely doubt we'll ever see mcbrim again if UT wins.

I actually think your jousting is usually fun and harmless. McBrim's stuff is usually pretty stupid... I don't think he brings "straight facts" except for the very obvious like "59-20".
