GPS outfielder commits to Lady Vols, 'can feel a presence there'

Megan Givens of Girls Preparatory School in Chattanooga has accepted a scholarship offer to play softball for Tennessee.

The 5-foot-1 left-handed hitting outfielder has a .358 career batting average and led GPS to the Division II-AA state championship.

Givens told the Chattanooga Times Free Press she’s been going to UT athletic events all her life and has made only unofficial visits so far.

“I absolutely love it,” Givens told the newspaper. “I think it’s so pretty. I’ve not actually toured the campus with a guide, but I can feel a presence there.”

Lillian Hammond, who I believe is now on the team, is also a GPS grad. The Bruisers have a great program and have won several state titles.
