Jonathan Hefney missed the start of an NFL training camp by one day.
Tampa Bay set its 80-man camp roster by releasing the former University of Tennessee safety on Friday night.
Hefney signed with the Buccaneers as a rookie free agent in April after the 2008 draft.

Dang.. that was quick.. I figured he was one that would stick somewhere... Minus being a little small/slow.. Guess he couldn't play QB so they cut him..

best of luck to him

Not really surprising, but he was a gamer. Good luck, young man.

Clausen came within a couple of busted defensive plays (J. Battle, for one) of getting us to a second NC game.
Your constant nasty attitude doesn't really seem to fit the bill of 'fan', more like 'critic'.

I do agree with that workin, you can telegraph a pass in the SEC championship when you are a senior QB.
No Excuses. I will agree Ainge's freshmen year was his best, he seemed to play loser and to have more fun playing the game.
BUT, He still received a contract from the Jets and has a chance to be a backup in the league.
Clausen had the heart and soul of champion, he laid it on the line every week for the Big Orange

Both Clausen boys had huevos. The first one had some talent; the second one, well, he had large huevos.

Oh yeah, Ainge had Cutcliff.

Sorry Hef, always hate to see a Vol get cut. Maybe someone can use him
invisiblekid writes:
Hate to see it for Hefney, the kid sacrificed and played safety instead of CB which probably a more natural position with his size. Also measuring out at a shade over 5'7" and running a 4.5 40 doesn't help the cause. Hope he catches on somewhere.

Casey Clausen was 2-0 in the Swamp, and QB'd the win that snapped Miami's Orange Bowl winning streak. Big time gamer.
MyBloodisOrange writes:
Hefney's attitude was always positive and he did a great job his Junior year. These kids shoot for the stars and if it doesnt work out in the NFL, theyve already accomplished a lot and added to the VOL history that were proud to call our own. I pray the best for him in all future endeavors!
