Tennessee football coach Phillip Fulmer was busy with a full slate of activities and appearances Monday at ESPN studios in Bristol, Conn.

Fulmer accepted the invitation earlier this summer from the worldwide sports network to visit the headquarters location and make the rounds. He is scheduled to appear on several of the daily television, radio and Internet programs.

"It's a great opportunity and I'm looking forward to it," Fulmer said Sunday while en route. "The build-up to the season has been tremendous this year, and ESPN always has been a great partner to our league. The atmosphere at those Saturday night games in the fall, whether at home or away, is tremendous."

Among the programs hosting Fulmer live were "Mike and Mike in the Morning" (approximately 9:40 a.m. Eastern), First Take (10:50 a.m.), The Herd on ESPN Radio (11:25 a.m.), ESPN.com chat (12:30 p.m.) and Tirico and Van Pelt on ESPN Radio (1:25 p.m.). Fulmer also is taping the Hotlist for ESPNews and College Football Live, both of which will air later in the afternoon.

The Vols begin their 2008 season Labor Day Night at UCLA, with ESPN carrying the action in an exclusive prime time window.

To listen to Fulmer's interview with "Mike and Mike" go to http://espnradio.espn.go.com/espnradio/show?showId=mikeandmike

More details later online and in Tuesday's News Sentinel.

thanks for the early heads up

Did Geno Auriemma approve this visit? There could be serious consequences for not following ESPN visitation guidelines. Come on, Phil.

WOW!!!!! Foolmore is doing national media interviews!!!!!! We're back!!!!!!!!!!!!

utmichael20#546617 writes:

ok, well,... i thought i was gonna be first...

eefor10c writes:

Way to be on top of it KNS. Four of the five interviews were already done before you posted the information. Thanks to another poster the information was out much earlier. adams must go.

mlbrown5454 writes:

Cowherd just talked about how great Peyton was.
Not much about current.

BigVolinCarolina writes:

I hope there's no one in Bristol, Connecticut who has it out for Coach Fulmer. If so, he might wanna watch out for a subpoena whenever climbing out of his car.

MemphVol writes:

Congrats Coach Fulmer:
Yes, the naysayers on this site hate hearing of you making national appearances, but that's their problem. Long time Vols fans, such as myself, know the difference that you've made in this program and have never lost faith in your abilities. Good luck on the up-coming season, and continue to prove 'em wrong!! GO VOLS!!!

kaplan#211944 writes:

UT decided to not send out a release Sunday and keep the information on its Web site. I don't have ESP(N). :}
All the radio interviews will be archived at ESPN.

kaplan#211944 writes:

Russo from Florida
Packer form Texas
Nagi from New York
Kaplan from New York and Florida
Adams from Louisiana (stops in Florida and Pennsylvania, too).

kaplan#211944 writes:

Thanks for the support. BTW ... There's no boycott.

how can someone be from two places?

TommyJack writes:

Sooooooooooo. Anyone from anywhere N. of Nashville is eliminated from reporting on the vols. Is that what I'm hearing, Naffy? Good Grief.

ggriggs939#223122 writes:

It is doubtful espn did more than follow the bias in the 97 heisman popularity contest. It and all the others were lost in 1946.

VolDad4Life writes:

I am so glad he is getting out there. I am so tired of reading how the Vols will come in 3rd in the East. As good as Georgis was last year our Defense killed them, same for Arkansas. And now, our defense is supposed to be better!!

We were divisional champs and one touchdown (interception) away from winning the SEC (and thus defeating the ultimate nat'l champs). I predict first or second. Georgia will screw up. Florida will not prevail in Knoxville this year. Alabama will be paid back for that embarassing whipping they put on us last year.

I hope he mentions all this.

Moving the game to Monday night could reap huge recruiting dividends. Great PR opportunity for the Vols.

What happened in 1946??

Ok.... what idiot signed in today 1,178 times??

WorkinLikeHeck writes:

WOW...sjt just slapped kaplan across the face. KNS is being reactive rather than proactive. Just think we paid 40 a year for this breaking news a year ago. LOL!!!!!!

Silent_Fulmer writes:

Who forced Foolmer to take this visit?

primetimevol writes:

I for one work at ESPN (just over 8 years), and a UT GRAD of 1998. I went down to the studio before Coach taped his segment for CFA Live to let him know that there were some UT fans holding it down! Coach yelled over to Griese that they had some UT grads at ESPN. Bob shook our hands and joked: "Couldn't get into Purdue, huh?" To which we replied, "Didn't want to."

marinevol writes:

Kaplan, are all the interviews radio only?

murrayvol writes:

TJ: That's the year I was born. If there's a connection, I'm not aware of it. :)

The truth is out there, and per pdhuff, someone will know.

HotlantaVol writes:

PTVols - "Didn't want to."

Nice. You need a Property of Tennessee Trailer Trash tee shirt to wear when Fowler is in the studio. Represent the Vols!!

PS - Tell Lou Holtz we miss having him at USC.

alfrizzle097 writes:

Does kaplan have a blog or anything? I see him mediating but not really giving opinions.

pdhuff#552644 writes:

oh,geez, Phil, smile, shake hands and say only...

I know, we're going to work like heck once we study the charts on which we stay the family course.

Say nothing else, maybe dadgum.

Nothing else or we'll have to have a high $$$$ PR firm on the ramparts.

inthefort writes:

good spot on mike and mike. was this brought up to take the focus off the subpoena?

IBleedOrange444 writes:

PTVols-

In fact, tell Lou Holtz that the nursing home misses him. That guy's too old to put together a rational thought anymore. He needs to hang it up and stop with the annoying homer predictions.

So as an ESPN employee, why does ESPN always cast us in such a negative light? Every big win gets about 10 seconds of SS coverage and we either "squeeked one out" or our opponent "blew it". Are the big wigs over there Gayters and Bammers or what?

murrayvol writes:

Prime time against an opponent whose athletic program is recognized coast to coast (so what if it's a down year in fb). Opportunity has kicked down the door and the Vols need to take care of bidness. Thanks ESPN!

Don't even want to consider what a loss in this game would mean.

LAVol writes:

UTsports.com had this posted first thing this morning before Fulmer did his first interview. Way to be proactive KNS!

spvol writes:

ESPN is no friend of UT. Their only friend is $$$$$$. They're pimping up the UT-UCLA game on Labor Day.

Jamey1210 writes:

I hope some of you were able to see my post earlier this morning. I posted as soon as I found out.
On another note, I will keep reading all news I can on Govols.com considering it is the best site, but that is a sad statement. This site should be more on top of it. I guess when you have no competition you have no need to make any changes. I think it is truely time for a change. I for one would love for another site pop up and run this site into the ground. I think that it is sad that you just keep John Adams because people don't like him and it brings more attention to your site. If anyone here can find a better site for information please post site. I am sure that we as the people who make this site run can force the changes we all want. Again good job letting someone beat you to a story that was getting paid to do something else.

primetimevol writes:

I can't explain it. There are people from all over the U.S. that work here and are very passionate about college football. However, we are not a sexy team for some of the analysts, producers, and CPs. It's frustrating, but I try to help whenever I can. Remember when Pearl gave the speech to the fans before beating the then #1 Gators outside of T.B.A? Noone knew about it until I told the editor and P.A. (who's supposed to be watching the game), and they put it in the highlite.

VolFanInAtl writes:

primetimevols - nice!

TommyJack writes:

Just saw CPF on rerun of Mike&Mike...seemed to have acquitted himself quite well.

Murray...that year just proves you're old, dude. :)

alfrizzle097 writes:

See if you can't keep it coming. A little more positive pr from ESPN could do wonders for the major programs.

pdhuff#552644 writes:

murrayvol 2:49 -Many on here are picking us to win the right to go to the SECCG. How could you remotely entertain the slightest whisper of a doubt about the coming thrashing of the lowly Bruins?

You'll feel better if you'll just rewatch us destroy, say, Vandy, SC or Kaintuck, powerhouses all. Our 11th ranked D returns.

Glad I could help.

HotlantaVol writes:

spvol - I think you are right, but you have to show the love to receive the love. It's in UT and CPF's best interest to do these spots for ESPN.

Let the love flow
Like a mountain stream
Let the Vols go
Knock-out UCLA's team
Even if ESPN blows
If you know what I mean
Just let the love flow . . .

primetimevol writes:

alfrizzle: I try when I can, but getting blown out by Florida and Bama don't help matters.

VolFanInAtl writes:

primetimevols hit the nail on the head. The media is afraid to talk-up the Vols because we are inconsistent. Pick us and risk humiliation.

rusty_shackleford writes:

I heard Mike and Mike....good interview. Cowherd gushed over Peyton and spent most of the interview talking about him and how important football is to the South. Neither mentioned the bammer idiocy.

volnbig11land writes:

good point robvols. it is sickening to hear the suckeye fans and espn around here.....

then to add insult to injury, I come on this site and get johnnie's mindless blabber....

txsvol#372416 writes:

I caught the interview on ESPN2, and I am very proud of the way CPF handled himself. IMO, the only ESPN commentator who likes/respects us is Mark May. Go Vols! SAVol

volnbig11land writes:

Spot on txsvol. Mark May seems to be the only one who gives us any respect and the only who doesn't think the big 11 is all that.

alfrizzle097 writes:

primetime- Blowing out Arkansas and Georgia shouldn't hurt. We traded blowouts with Cal, but the first game seemed to get lost in translation. Not saying the bad shouldn't be aired. It would be nice if we could simply get disproportionate coverage of the good.
