Former Tennessee All-American Chris Lofton has added another award to his resume, winning the inaugural SEC sportsmanship award.
Florida golfer Jessica Yadloczky was the female winner of the award, which SEC commissioner Mike Slive announced Tuesday.
According to a league release, Lofton and Yadloczky will have their names forwarded for nomination to the NCAA for its national sportsmanship awards, to be announced in July.
Lofton and Yadloczky were chosen by a vote of the SEC athletic directors.
He played last season after undergoing radiation treatment for cancer. The disease was found after UT's NCAA tournament game against Long Beach State on March 16, 2007, and he underwent treatments in April and May of 2007.
Lofton led the Vols to a their first outright SEC title in 41 years, scoring 15.5 points per game as UT went 31-5 and appeared in the Sweet 16.
Yadloczky, a freshman from Casselberry, Fla., finished fifth in the SEC with her season average of 74.00 strokes per round. She helped lead the Gators to the SEC title and a ninth-place finish in the NCAA golf championships this season.

Well deserved by CLO but the KNS staff that put this together needs to get their crap straight. CLO did NOT play "the entire basketball season with cancer without letting anyone know." His cancer was removed and his treatments were over with before the season started. What he PLAYED with were the after effects from the treatment and not being able to work out all summer. But hey since when did FACTS matter to anyone at KNS????

The inaugural winners of an award should have the award named after them. They deserve it.
The Chris Lofton SEC Sportsmanship Award. I like it.
