Nyshier Oliver has committed to play football for Tennessee. The 5-foot-11, 185 pounder from St. Peter's prep in New Jersey City, N.J., told the News Sentinel on Saturday he hopes to play defensive back in college.

Oliver had approximately a dozen offers, including invites from Ohio State and Michigan.

Oliver is UT's third commitment in three days as the Vols hold their football camp this week. Running back Jarvis Giles of Gaither High School in Tampa, Fla., committed Friday. Offensive lineman Kevin Revis of Rhea County committed Thursday.

As a junior he rushed for over 1,500 yards and scored 24 touchdowns.

Oliver is UT's seventh commitment for the 2009 signing class. He joins Giles, Revis, receiver Je'Ron Stokes of Northeast High in Philadelphia, Pa., tailback Toney Williams of Milton High in Alpharetta, Ga., running back Dominique Allen from Henry County High in Paris, Tenn., and athlete Damien Thigpen from Stonewall Jackson High in Manassas, Va.
