Offensive lineman Andre Harris from Lovejoy High School in Hampton, Ga., has committed to Auburn.
The 6-foot-4, 320-pound Harris told AuburnSports.com of his decision after participating in the Tigers’ two-day camp over the weekend.
“I love the prestige of Auburn and how they're the third winningest team in the NCAA since 2000,” Harris told the Web site. “I just feel really comfortable being down there at Auburn. I just feel like that's the place I belong.”
Harris, who held more than 20 scholarship offers, chose Auburn over Tennessee, Arkansas, Mississippi State, Georgia Tech and Rutgers.
Harris attended UT’s junior day on March 1.
The Vols were hoping to continue their recent luck of recruiting at Lovejoy.
Two of Lovejoy’s former players, Anthony Parker and Chris Scott, start on UT’s offensive line.
Lovejoy coach Al Hughes told the News Sentinel in March that Harris is further along in his career than Parker and Scott were at the same point.
“He does all the things the right way,” Hughes said of Harris. “He’s the kind of guy you have to pinch yourself about. I’ll ask, ‘How do I deserve this?’ ”
Missing out on Harris doesn’t hurt UT as much because the Vols landed commitments from three offensive linemen in the past week.
Kevin Revis from Rhea County High was the first to commit on Thursday.
Aubrey Phillips from Olive Branch (Miss.) High and JerQuari Schofield from South Aiken High in Aiken, S.C., followed with their pledges on Saturday.
