Lady Vols to visit White House on Tuesday

The Tennessee Lady Vols will be visiting the White House on Tuesday to be honored by President Bush for winning the national championship in women's basketball.

The trip will take place three months earlier than last year's visit. The June date comes in the middle of the Lady Vols' day camp.

The date also conflicts with the WNBA schedules for departed seniors Candace Parker, Alexis Hornbuckle, Nicky Anosike and Shannon Bobbitt. Their respective teams - Los Angeles, Detroit and Minnesota - have games scheduled that day.

Fellow senior Alberta Auguste is on campus, attending summer school while finishing her degree.

UT won the national championship with a 64-48 victory over Stanford on April 8 in Tampa, Fla.

hmm...seems like most of the most important reasons for winning the title aren't attending. seems kind of lame, eh? we can't get that fool out of office fast enough....too bad he wasn't impeached like he should've been.

First of all......Shut up. second of all....Congratulations again to the Lady Vols!

nakamine, you're an absolute moron.

Sometimes a news story is only a "story" when key information is left out. UT may have approved this date out of several offered--we're left to wonder. Anytime a news story begs the question, without even acknowledging the question it begs, expect a follow-up story--a twofer--2 stories from 1 story's worth of notes.

But, if I may get off subject and talk about basketball... here's something worth looking for: if most of the LVs who had the WH experience last year aren't there Tuesday, then for most of them who ARE there, it will be their first WH experience.

Now THAT's an object lesson CPS can utilize: "Ladies... Candice, Nicky and Alexis are no longer here--YOU are the ones who represent our championship program. Did you enjoy the experience of meeting the most powerful person in the world? Do you want to come back again? How much do you want it?"

nakamine, move to Iran...hurry!!

Don't have to like the man ,but show respect for the office. Article on Lady Vols visiting White House not on the Primary occupant thereof. Bible says if you call a brother a fool.....read it yourself then you might want to tone it down. Lady Vols enjoy the visit, healup off season surgeries and be ready for #9 in '09!

Thank you, who are mature and human, for your posts and for admonishing those who are not. I know this is an 'egual opportunity' forum, but I wish we could be rid of these immature, sarcastic dweebs who have nothing to offer here but garbage.

CONGRATULATIONS again to the Lady Vols who have made us proud. Enjoy DC and know what an honor it is to be invited to the White House.

Vol4jesus, the Scripture also states we must respect those in authority. Our Commander In Chief is to be honored and revered no matter what we think of his political views. Thank you for your insight into the things that really count in life.

So, nakamine needs to move to Iran because he has the balls to speak up about the worst president this country has ever seen, hmmm, sounds like ALL of you guys are morons. I realize W is still in authority, but this is a sports page, we are not speaking on national tv, come on. His days are almost over any way, thank god

anecastro74#247283 writes:

Ahhh, 'nakamine' must be a disgruntled, angry, bitter Slick Willy Clinton supporter... LMAO!!! Just because Slick was impeached doesn't mean that we need to partake in a 'make-up' impeachment so y'all will feel better... Get-a-life brah!!! Can't we PLEASE keep partisan bickering out of one aspect of our daily lives, for pete's sake???

4everliboranged I'm glad you know each and every President so well that you, in this article about Lady Vols which you didn't stick to per rules of posters, can determine which is the worst in history. Glad you are not teaching our children right and wrong! Again Lady Vols enjoy visit to White House and meeting President Bush, He is just a man like you and me. A father like I am. Yet God has placed him over our country for this time. We can all think and have our opinions(foreeverliboranged that includes ewe) concerning politicians etc. In the final chapter what we think doesn't matter anyway. Was I forgiven through faith in Jesus Christ is what really matters. Don't worry no sermon coming. In summary, Lady Vols earned a special(to most Americans) opportunity to meet the President at the White House for their National Championship. Lets celebrate this with them as Fans for them! page three Paul Harvey.......

Regardless of politics, it would be an honor to meet the President of the United States and visit the White House. I have heard the current President speak once and had the opportunity to see Air Force One at the same event. To be around a President is an amazing thing. Each carries an immense mantle of responsibility. Furthermore, I am proud to be an American. I am excited and proud that those young people(the Lady Vols of course!) will be representing our community in a place such as Washington, DC. I'm sure it will be a positive experience they will always remember. I mean, if you play for the Lady Vols you have a strong opportunity to meet the President. That's pretty amazing! Go Big Orange!

Orangebrewbasher writes:

So because I critized the president I am not a good influence to children. Well i'm glad your not giving our children lectures on free speach! I don't want to cast my opinion upon everyone just because theirs my be different than mine, but just because I critized an authority figure doesn't mean i'm in my front lawn burning american flags and need to leave the country. Do you know who else was critized: Clinton, Bush Sr., Reagon, Nixon, probably even Lincoln.

Anybody know what time of day they will be up there? My family and I are taking the White House tour on Tuesday and I would love to bump into them.

vol4jesus writes:

4evrornge I'm all for free speech as I stated . Said entitled to your opinion...Teach children respect for President is correct. Did not say that as they got older that they as free, independant thinkers couldn't disagree. Just don't teach to be trash throwers and be disrespectful. Lady Vols earned an honor and should be seen as such. Not the forum to be rude to guest who invited you. Being polite does not mean weak! Coach Summit and players we are proud of your accomplishments and great opportunity you had today. Work for #9 in '09!

Attention Please. This article is about the Lady
Vols honor of visiting the White House after winning the National

Congrats Lady Vols.....how ever many of you may get to attend.

Congrats Lady Vols on meeting President Bush and going on the White House Tour, it will be something you will cherish for a lifetime.

Well, I guess you do have to respect the office, regardless of who occupies it, and he is my Commander in Chief (for 212 more days)... well anyway, congratulations Lady Vols, have a good time.
