I picked Candace because she was the best at her sport and she played through a twice separated shoulder!!
Though it was a tough decision between Candace and Lofton!!

I picked no one because it said the poll was closed - talk about a small window of oppourtunity!!! Tough choice, though...GO VOLS!!!

I tried to pick Lofton because of his heart, his character, and what he helped do to our basketball program. He beat cancer and help build a program at the same time.

Poll is open. It has been fixed.

I had to go with Jerdo Mayo, He was a stud, I hate to see him picked by the Patriots where he will have to be Peyton's rival, but I'm sure he will succeed at the next level, maybe get lucky and traded to the Titans or Colts haha.

Intersting that J.P. Smith, runner-up in NCAA tennis, has no votes. I voted for Lofton, though. Great Lady Vol hoops players are a dime a dozen. But a great men's player is less frequent on the Hill. Especially one like Lofton, who led UT to our highest ranking in our school's history. Lofton is the easy choice here.

I picked Kylee because I didn't remember her (him) and figured she needed a vote.
Where was Dupree or the 2-finger aerial?

Lofton. Cancer survivior. Leads a team to first SEC regular season title in decades. Fantastic role model. Candace is a close second.

What a great bunch of Athletes all the way around.
Bowman was running competively within a month of an Appendectomy, Chris having to overcome Chemo and Radiation most of the season, and Candace playing on after those two shoulder dislocations in one game. All three set records at UT this year, both in the record books and in our hearts for being such resilient people and players.
And Mayo surely left a permanent impression on many a SEC running back.

Not many FB players to be select from. Will that change this year? Only time will tell.
LanceR24 writes:
could possibly vote for anyone other than lofton, one of the greatest men to ever go through tennessee's athletic program period.
LanceR24 writes:
oops couldn't*
VolMama writes:
I picked Lofton. As good as I liked Candace, and I know she is a GREAT player, but how can we not vote for Chris. Could any of us have still played has hard as he did, and still fight cancer, I know I couldn't. I also think we are luckiest fans in the world because we have had some of the greast players ever. GO VOLS!!!

I selected Lofton. Parker was a very close second. Hats off to all the VOLS and Lady VOLS.
ctownvol writes:
Chris Lofton. 'Nuff said.
VOLS85 writes:
How do you not pick lofton?
He fought and beat cancer before the season started, didn't tell anyone, and succeeded on the court, carrying the utmost class.
I love Candace and she brought home the NC and she will likely have a road named after her, but you have to give this to lofton...

Lofton all the way!

I, too, selected lofton. Tough choice between him and parker. Both went through excruciating circumstances. However, you could only tell Lofton was struggling but very few knew why..the whole world knew what was wrong with parker. Not to discount her toughness, but how does one experience and play through what Lofton did this past year...having to do it pretty much by himself nontheless. It's a shame more athletes don't have the same desire as these two.

MY WRITE IN VOTE IS THE KNUCKLEHEAD ON THE SCOUT TEAM THAT HAD TO HIT WITH JEROD MAYO IN PRACTICE NICE JOB KIDDO PROBABLY SOME 170 LB WALKON KID FROM HALLS OR SOMETHING . SERIOUSLY ALL OF THE CANDIDATES ARE NICE CHOICES BUT ITS HARD FOR ME NOT TO VOTE FOR LOFTON. HEART AND SOUL OF OUR PROGRAM LAST FOUR YEARS . RECORD YEARS I REMIND U. HE HAS KEPT HIS NOSE CLEAN AND HE DESERVES IT. HE FOUGHT CANCER AND STILL HAD A FINE YEAR HE BECAME THE SEC ALL TIME 3 POINT SHOOTER AND ALL AMERICAN. I STILL LIKE CP3 SHES SMOKIN HOT AND A SWEET PLAYA. T CALLAHAN IS DESERVING ALSO BUT SHE HAS BETTER CAREER . MAYBE NEXT YEAR IT WILL BE MR ELECTRIC T SMITH AND THE NEXT YEAR IT WILL BE THE HUMAN HIGHLIGHT FILM ERIC BERRY GOOOOO VOLS

I chose Candace because I am first and foremost a Lady Vol fan (hence my name) and I believe she will have the most lasting impact in her sport beyond college. It was a tough choice between her and Lofton, though. I thought Lofton would win the poll because of how beloved he is around here and rightly so. For my money, there's never been two finer players on and off the court than Lofton and Parker and I'm so proud they're Vols!
budrhon writes:
Based on performance and performance alone it's Candace Parker hands down. Lofton's ordeal with cancer is a remarkable story in itself, but it doesn't answer to the question being asked.
vol98champ writes:
Which player will UT miss the most since they have graduated or if they could not play this year? Anybody voting against Candace now? I love Lofton, but the guy who stirred the drink was J. Smith. When he was on, we were unbeatable. Wish he had been more like Lofton in attitude.
