Tennessee redshirt freshman offensive lineman Darris Sawtelle will miss the 2008 season after having arthroscopic surgery on his left shoulder.
The 6-foot-6, 295-pound Michigan native is also scheduled for surgery on his right shoulder in July.
Incoming freshman wide receiver Rod Wilks, a native of Smyrna, had successful arthroscopic knee surgery on Monday.
Wilks’ left knee is expected to heal in time for fall camp, which begins in August, UT head athletic trainer Jason McVeigh said in a statement.
Sawtelle, who was not expected to see significant playing time this fall, is expected back in time for spring practice.
