Georgia's Landers plots to get Puleo open looks

Angela Puleo is taking her best shot as a freshman at Georgia.

The former William Blount High star, who scored 2,650 points during her high school career, is the Lady Bulldogs' most productive 3-point shooter with 46 treys. The 5-foot-9 guard is fifth on the team in scoring (8.4 points per game) and has started 12 of 13 conference games. She was honored as the SEC freshman of the week two weeks ago.

Georgia plays host to Tennessee at 7 tonight in Athens, Ga.

"She's a great shooter; she's a great scorer,'' said UT associate head coach Holly Warlick, who has prepared the scouting report for the game."

Warlick said Georgia coach Andy Landers runs plays that play to Puleo's strength.

"He's run things to her to get her open looks, which is smart,'' Warlick said.

A Different Look: While watching Thursday's senior night ceremony, Tennessee freshman forward Angie Bjorklund got a glimpse of the future as well. She looked around in the tunnel at Thompson-Boling Arena and saw only three other players standing with her, waiting to take the court.

"I looked behind me and I'm like, 'Oh man, this is going to be different,' '' she said.

UT has signed six freshmen for next season's roster.

SEC Preview: UT is locked in as the No. 2 seed for next week's SEC tournament in Nashville. The Lady Vols will play their first game in the second round at 3:30 p.m. Friday.

They will play the winner of Thursday's game between the No. 7 and No. 10 seeds. As of today, Auburn is the No. 7 seed and South Carolina is No. 10.
