CLEVELAND - The Cleveland Browns added another prime target for newly re-signed quarterback Derek Anderson on Saturday, agreeing with former University of Tennessee star Donte' Stallworth on a seven-year contract.
ESPN said the deal is worth $35 million with $10 million guaranteed.
The 6-foot, 200-pound Stallworth has played six years and 84 games in the NFL with New Orleans, Philadelphia and the New England. He has 279 receptions for 4,213 yards and 31 touchdowns.
Last season with New England, Stallworth had 46 receptions for 697 yards and three touchdowns. He had a career-high 70 receptions and 945 yards with New Orleans in 2005.
"Donte' will be the major addition to our offense this year," Browns GM and senior vice president Phil Savage said.
"He will bring legitimate speed, quickness and playmaking ability to the receiving corps and add a different dimension to the skill players we already have in place."
Stallworth was taken in the first round, 13th overall, by New Orleans in the 2002 draft. In his rookie season with the Saints, he had a career-best eight touchdown receptions.
In Cleveland, Stallworth will pair with wideout Braylon Edwards, who is coming off a breakout season in which he had 80 catches for 1,289 yards and 16 touchdowns.

Who cares? This guy doesn't acknowledge UT during the NFL game intros. He names his high school or something. Give Donte''''' credit, though. That's $5 million guaranteed per hamstring. Good work if you can get it.

It won't take Derek Anderson long to figure out not to throw to Stallworth if he's going across the middle. Tom Brady had 2 of his 3 picks during that playoff game because Stallworth pulled up. The boy doesn't like to get hit.

Volhooch, With the money he is making, I wouldn't want to get hit either. If the NFL GM's pay this money for guys that you say don't want to get hit, then that's their problem. Donte was great at Tennessee.

Donte'''' (nice touch, HB165) was a spotty player at UT. He made some great catches, and ran well after the catch, but was never the dependable, go-to guy that a quarterback can trust to be there all the time (like Marvin Harrison). Also, Dante'''' has been nicked up thus far in his pro career, but still has a lot of physical ability and can post some nice numbers, as long as he is the complimentary rather than primary receiver (like Alvin Harper). And, HB165, I don't like any of the guys who fail to credit the university that they attended, but then I don't like the end-zone and post-sack shenanigans either. Guess I'm too old-school...

I gess he will get more fo the spot light with the browns. He would always have 3th wheel at new england.

ever time i hear his name, it makes me think that the only reason anyone mistakes him for anything more than a mediocrity is that he shares the name of a truly great receiver. much like a quarterback fortunate to have a name like manning, montana, or namath.

I am glad a true Vol Gibril Wilson got the super bowl ring instead of Stallworth. I love how he says his high school in the intro of the games instead of UT. Such a classy guy.

Wonder why he says his HS and not UT? As I remember it, he tried to come back to UT after that pariah, Kelly Washington, talked him into turning pro. Washington reneged on his own turning pro & then coming back to add his devisiveness to the next year's team b4 getting injured. The NCAA would not let Donte come back by paying back what an agent gave him. Am I dreaming that sequence of events?

anyone: What is his beef with TN?

James & T-Jack...
I have to concur that he did make some good plays while at UT, but to say he was 'great' while he was here is very debatable. The great ones make memorable plays, & do what it takes (ie. Jason Witten) in order to get the job done. If memory serves, he made crucial drops of gift wrapped passes in various games during his last year here that hurt us, & it drove me up the friggin wall. Also, I got sooo worn out with the media circus when his status of going pro (or not) never seemed to go away. Blame Kelley Washington all you want to, but at the end of the day, he was doing what was best for him, not because he cared about his school or his teammates like Peyton did. Arkyvol's take is dead on, & frankly, I was glad to see him leave. The only reason I can think of that he says his high school during intros is because he never graduated from UT. Since he's going to Ohio now, he can hook up with that jackass Kellen Winslow.
GO VOLS!

I'll bet that he and Jamal Lewis will sit around and mock UT for positioning them for those big contracts and how they turned their backs on the university. Dante is a classless act and I am glad that he doesn't mention UT during the lineup announcements. Money or not, he is a disgrace.
