Tennessee's SEC scenarios

Tennessee took another step toward winning the SEC title with its 63-60 win over Kentucky on Sunday while positioning itself better for the SEC tournament March 13-16 at the Georgia Dome.

--Tennessee can clinch the SEC East Division title and a No. 1 seed in the SEC tournament by winning either of its last two games OR if Kentucky loses one of its final two games.

As the East No. 1 seed, the Vols would play at 1 p.m. March 14 in the SEC tournament against the March 13 winner of the West's No. 4 team vs. the East's No. 5 team.

--For UT to finish as the East's No. 2 seed, it would need to lose both remaining games while Kentucky wins at South Carolina on Wednesday and again at home against Florida on Sunday. In that scenario, the Vols would open play at 9 p.m. March 14 in the SEC tournament against the March 13 winner of the West's No. 3 team and the East's No. 6 team.

--Tennessee can clinch the SEC title outright by winning both of its remaining games, or by winning one of its two remaining games combined with a Mississippi State loss at Vanderbilt on Wednesday or a Mississippi State loss at home against LSU on Saturday.

--If UT loses one of its two remaining games and Mississippi State wins both of its games, the Vols would share the SEC regular-season title.

--If UT loses both of its remaining games and Mississippi State finishes its season with two wins, the Bulldogs would win the SEC title outright.

MSU is at Vandy and has a newly-inspired LSU team to finish. Hang a banner.

BECAUSE OF THE UNTIMELY UPSET LOSS TO VANDY,THE VOLS NEED TO WIN THE SEC TOURNY. I THINK THE LOSS TO VANDY AFTER THE MEMPHIS WIN WAS LIKE "GETTING HIT BELOW THE BELT" IN TERMS OF WHAT IT DID PSYCOLOGICALLY TO US.WE NEED THE TOURY WIN TO BUILD ON GOING INTO THE NCAA.I DON'T THINK IT MATTERS WHO WE FACE FIRST,THE GOAL IS TO FINISH WITH THE TITLE!THAT WILL GO A LONG WAY TO BUILDING THE CONFIDENCE WE NEED.THE VANDY LOSS CAME AT SUCH A BAD TIME.THIS YEAR,AND HOPEFULLY MANY YEARS TO COME,WE ARE USED TO WINNING!!NOT "SLIPPING UP" WHAT?, 3 DAYS AFTER BECOMING #1 WE CAN USE ALL KINDS OF EXCUESES AS TO WHY WE DROPPED TO VANDY,BUT IN THE END,WE STILL DID NOT HOLD #1.TO WIN THE SEC TITLE(S)IS MOST IMPORTANT TO BIG ORANGE BASKETBALL!!! THIS YEAR AND FOR THE FUTURE AGREED?! GO VOLS!!

(Einstein -- Was that a typo? If not, I like the "movidated.")

I think we win both. SC and FL will both be "movidated," but CBP is all about hanging a banner (or two, or four). I think they get it done, then make at least the finals of the SEC Tourney. If they do that, I think they're a #1 seed, DEPENDING on how the final goes -- either win it, or lose close.

Of course, winning the next five would be the best scenario. But as I wrote on my blog earlier tonight, I'm adopting the "Enjoy the Ride" approach to the end of this season. Coach Pearl and the team already have enough pressure on them -- no need for us to add to it! :-)

Go Vols!

For some reason the UF game does not put the fear in me like Vandy and UK did. UF's defence is fair at best. I don't see Coach Billy playing a slow down, grind it out game. I'm not going to even think about blowing our 30 game home streak to SC. Geezzzz!

I'm just a little worried about the VOLS in Atlanta. For some reason even if we have good teams - we get down there and can't hit the broadside of a barn. I don't know, it's something about playing in that dome, or what? That's in the past. Let's just take these last two, then we can worry about Atlanta!

BRUCE IN LOUISVILLE--"ENJOYING THE RIDE" IS ALL WELL & GOOD,BUT TITLES AND BANNERS LAST ALOT LONGER!!WINNING,NOT JUST "GETTING TO THE FINALS IN THE TOURNY" IS NOT THE GOAL______ WINNING IS WHERE IT'S AT!! JUST GETTING TO THE FINALS IS LIKE SAYING I'M OK WITH JUST MAKING IT TO THE NCAA TOURNY. NO MAN--WINNING IS WHERE IT'S AT!!YOU PLAY TO WIN!!WE DIDN'T GET WHERE WE ARE BY JUST GETTING THERE (TO THE FINALS)YEA,"ENJOY THE RIDE"BUT,--WINNING TITLES IS THE GOAL!!MORE ORANGE 2-U//GO VOLS ALL THE WAY!!SETTLE FOR NOTHING LESS!!:)

Turn the damned CAPS OFFFFFF!!! You are SHOUTING!!!!!!

You had better respect UF. The final score in the first UF game was NOT indicative of the game, just as the final socre of the first VU game was not indicative of THAT game.

To refresh your memories, UF played us tough for quite a while and was shooting well.

Vandy beat us at Nashville in an ugly game that featured clutch shooting by Vandy. Memphis almost beat us in the same type of game, as did UK. Knowing that Billy D is smart, you have to expect UF to foul and push and make life miserable for UT.

UT better be ready to get ALL the garbage points and gimmes that it can.
