GAINESVILLE, Fla. - It's hot, it's humid, it's loud and it's raucous.
Florida's O'Connell Center is the collegiate basketball equivalent to the Gators' famed football Swamp, complete with a rowdy student section a few yards from the court.
But for No. 4 Tennessee to guarantee itself its first outright SEC regular season championship since 1967, the Vols will have to find a way to win tonight's game (TV: WVLT and FSN, 9 p.m.) at the two-time defending national champions.
"Florida is one of the toughest places to play in the country, with the students right on the floor,'' UT coach Bruce Pearl said. "They open the doors from the pool and let that pool humidity get in there. It can even affect the coaching.
"No more light suits for Coach Pearl at Florida. Been there and done that. We're going to start hydrating now.''
One of the most memorable moments of Pearl's career came two years ago at the O'Connell Center, when he sweated out - quite literally - an upset victory over the Gators.
Pearl's tan suit was stained with sweat by halftime of that game, from the bottom of his trousers to two large patches of sweat on his shoulder blade portion of his sport coat.
"It's always real hot in there, and the humidity is ridiculous,'' UT All-American guard Chris Lofton said. "The fans are real loud, and it just feels like everyone in there is against you.''
The action was hot when UT (26-3, 12-2 SEC) beat the young Gators (21-8, 8-6) in Knoxville on Feb. 5. The teams raced up and down the court for 40 minutes.
The Vols, more experienced and deeper, won a game that was much closer than the 104-82 final score suggests.
There are reasons UT is favored by three points in tonight's game.
Consider, Tennessee led by two points with 10 1/2 minutes left. Further, the Gators were one of two teams to hold a half-time lead over the Vols (48-44) at Thompson-Boling Arena this season, and it was no fluke.
Led by talented freshman point guard Nick Calathes, who had 15 points, nine rebounds and eight assists against UT, Florida shot 64.3-pecent in the first half.
The Vols eventually came back and pulled away, but it took 26 points from Chris Lofton and UT's best shooting game over the past month.
The Vols haven't hit 13 3-pointers in a contest since that Florida outing seven games ago, nor has UT matched the .448 it shot from beyond the arc in the win over the Gators.
"We know we're going to have our hands full,'' Lofton said. "Florida came out on fire last time.''
Pearl said much of the Gators' success has to do with the Xs and Os drawn up by Florida coach Billy Donovan.
"Like the Phoenix Suns, Billy Donovan's teams are hard to guard, and there's a reason why his teams are hard to guard,'' Pearl said. "When you hedge out on their ball screens, Calathes or (Jai) Lucas are reading the defense.
"It's like a quarterback, and they make great reads.''
Pearl said that Mississippi State, which must win at Vanderbilt tonight to stay in contention for an outright SEC regular season title, used a 2-3 zone to combat Florida in its 68-59 win over the Gators last Saturday.
"Most teams would just go to the 2-3 zone,'' Pearl said. "That's not how we roll; that's not how we're trained. We're going to need to execute and play well to win this game.''
Stat Attack: UT leads the SEC in scoring (82.1 points per game), scoring margin (plus-13.4), assists (18.28 per game), steals (9.66 per game), turnover margin (plus-6.17) assist-turnover ratio (1.43) and 3-point field-goal defense .297).

Don't worry about the gator fans, one of the challenges of being at the top is that others will take shots at you, especially those that are unranked and do this to feel better about a down year.
This is a tough game, both teams really need the win: UT to clinch a piece of an SEC title and UF to punch their dance card. Frankly I think UF will go to the junior prom but they may get some props as two-time defending NC.
From Rob Lewis:
"What Pearl has harped on this week with Florida—and in every other past meeting with the Gators for that matter—is their proficiency at using ball-screens in their offense. Taurean Green was a master at it, and Calathes and Lucas have proved to be dangerous practitioners of Donovan's approach as well.
The Vols' head coach pointed out that a lot of opponents have simply decided to zone the Gators rather than deal with the hedging, switching and jumping on the perimeter required to combat it. But Pearl also said on Monday that his team won't go that route, so practice this week has been heavy on defending Florida's attack.
Smith backed up his coach's praise of Florida's style.
"To me, from watching them and seeing other people we play use ball screens in their offense, I think they're excellent at it," Smith said of Florida's reliance on the tool. "That's something that they do best. We've been spending a lot of time working on defending it and it's something we have to be aware of as a team.
"Calathes is a tough match-up, just a big guard that can do it all. He's a really nice player. It's all about team defense though, if we play as a team we'll be ok."
Play as a team and bring this one home ... GO VOLS!!

tenn wins big in gainesville tonight.
any ncaa predictions......positive or negative are really, really dumb until you see the draw. certain matchups are favorable......certain matchups will cause problems. tenn struggled with kentucky even though tenn is ten times better. ky plays a style of game that doesn't suit tenn well.
tenn could be anywhere from a national title team to out in the 2nd round depending on the draw.
wait for the draw.
and beyond that, upsets happen. every year, if you were to make a bet taking one team vs. the field......vegas would accomodate you every time.

A bit of minutae, McB, from Pearl's point of view.
99, Ky has good players, I don't think Ut is 10 times better, slightly deeper, maybe. I think SEC teams have figured out how to defend Pearl's style. Those in the NCAA won't have that experience or the time to learn.

Tsk tsk tsk. A national championship under their belt and UF still has a "multi-use" facility. You'd think a college in Florida would have a giant, stand-alone pool complex, but no. Do they put down astroturf over the court so the football team doesn't get wet when it practices on rainy days?

McBrim did you go or do you now go to UF? Do you live in Florida? The reason I ask is I havea few buddies who are Gator fans who are not from Florida, nor do they live in Florida, and they have never been on campus at UF. One wasn't allowed to attend school there, denied entry by the admissions system, I always ask how can you supports a school that doesn't want you.
I think this game will be close but UT will win. Florida has NO INSIDE GAME!!! I like Lucas and Calathias (sp) fun players to watch but they are so young there only good for about 3/4 of the game, just like in Knoxville they'll be worn down at about the 9-10 minute mark then its over...
Good luck living in the past Brimm, does it bring you comfort to know Mich beat you but still lost to Appy St....hmmm

Tough game tonight, for sure, and I would bet that UF wants it more. That may not be enough this year but it should make for a good game.
99 Gator is right. Matchups make the difference. Any draw that puts us up against a serious inside presence, like say UCLA, Stanford, Georgetown,or UNC, would likely end in defeat. Other highly ranked teams, such as Duke, Kansas, or Memphis, would be much better matchups. We will certainly be no worse than a number 2 seed and that's OK. It's more about the bracket they put you in than your seeding. The latest projections have us in the Midwest as a number 1, with Duke, Georgetown, and Connecticut as the 2-4. Ouch.
I'll bet BP does run a lot of zone tonight, no matter what he says now.
Go Vols!!!

I hope FL wants to speed up the game tonight. I'm tired up watching games like LSU 47-45. FL is good fast, but I think TN is better at that kind of game. FL in Knoxville played a little rough on the inside. I think they will play more of the same in Gainsville. FL shoots better from the foul line than TN (but that's not suprizing). I think FL plays 9 players and TN plays 10 with Josh (sometimes 11 with Ryan). Both teams like to shot the 3. It might be who ever is hotter from the 3pt line or who has the better inside game. For TN to win I think we need a good inside game from Tyler, JP, Duke, & Wayne. We probally need about a total of 40-46 points from those 4 players. Then from our guards we need 40-45 points (Chris,Jajuan,Ramar,Jordan, & Josh). The key point total I think is 80+ pts we win. TN 82 FL 78. GO VOLS!

mcbrim:
I'm one of those fans that ISN'T worried. You guys just don't have the horses this year to put fear in your opponents. UF lost bad to LSU at Gainesville for god sake. I'm not saying we're going to blow UF out of the gym. The only thing I could see UT in trouble if we have a atrocious (sp?) shooting night (like 27% @ Vandy).
We can still lose (which I don't think we will) and still get a #1 seed if we beat SC and do VERY WELL in the SEC tourny. Even-tough, UF is not ranked - it's still not like UT is playing an Auburn or SC on the road. You guys aren't totally horrible.
Besides, to me there is not a big deal between #1 and a #2 seed. Unless we drop 3 games in a row - UT will drop past #2.

McB, there are 4 or 5 Florida fans that post on here occasionally. While I do not believe those 4 or 5 represent a cross-section of Gator fans they do run the gamut from considerate to juvenile. You are at neither extreme I might add.
Tennessee fans posting here run the gamut as well. We are no different in having embarrassing fans.
BTW, you got Heelsfan this time but you missed on GerryOp the other day. I work with and around people with BS's and MS's from Tennessee, Penn St., Ohio St., Michigan and, yes, even Florida. Many of them are spelling and grammar challenged.
Lastly, we are worried because we haven't dominated any body since Georgia. Plus, BD is a good coach as demonstrated over the last couple of years.

I expect one tough, tough game. UF has had a decent season, and played us very weil in Knoxville.
UF actually matches up well with us. Also, UF will get 'up' for us more then, say, Miss. State.
I've got a guess here: we attempt to 'grind it out' against the Gators.
I am hoping UF and UK make it to the NCAA, along with UT, Miss State, Ole Miss, Vandy, and ARk. Realisticaly, all those teams will not make it. Maybe just 4 will get there.
I never agree with disrespecting an opponent before you play them. Many of the Vol fans should have learned from the UGA and LSU games that it is not wise to take any game for granted.
C'mon, Vols, lets win the SEC outright.
Posted by 98reax on March 5, 2008 at 1:18 p.m. (Suggest removal)
Here's my prediction: If the Vols sleep walk thru their chance to win SEC outright as they did thru the Vandy game, they do not deserve a #1 spot in The Dance and they won't get one. If they squander a winning season here in the final stretch as the Lady Vols did, they won't be feeling any respect form the powers that be. Fact is, excuses like we used for the last loss don't deserve sympathy from fans. I'm a fanatic when it comes to the Big Orange, but I'm also a realist. We failed to get in the paint and finish shots against Vandy. We failed to check Shan Foster. For crying out loud, teams have found a way to keep Chris out of the "wide open zip code." Did we not have a clue that Foster was capable of knocking down enough treys to beat our lousy shooting effort? Even without a Vanderbilt degree, I could draw up that game plan. Billy D is pretty much capable of out Xing and Oing us too if we don't take Calathes off his game. These are baby gators but big papa Billy has been dancing with the stars for several years. Our guys will need to bring some strong, smart D on them for sure, but a 20something% shooting night will not win this game against the reptiles in their environment. Coach Pearl is my vote for COY if he can wrap up this season by somehow getting the guys to knock down their frees and finish in the paint. Beating the gators will not do it but a strong SEC Tournament and a dance in the Elite8 would seal it.
Posted by mparker on March 5, 2008 at 1:26 p.m. (Suggest removal)
98, I don't think we slept-walked thru Vandy. It was a game where we REALLY needed Tyler's offense, and the flu drained him.
I'm getting tired of the phrase 'perfect storm', but the Vandy game really was:
-tired team
-Chism out w/fouls
-Tyler sick
-JaJuan off his game
-Foster wasn't guarded (how dumb not to glue him?)
-8,855,222.3 fouls called on two non-physical teams
You can add more; Vandy certainly beat us, and we certianly helped them do it.
I actually look for the VOLS to play VERY hard tonight. They want that conference title, and I think they are somewaht pissed at the voters putting them behind Memphis (a total crock of crap if there ever was one).

Your saying that CP will intentally slow it down? It would be the first time I ever seen that. It's ALWAYS the opponent that decides to grind it out.

I'm ok with the ranking behind Memphis because they only have the one loss. Our guys seem to be a little tired mentally from all the top tier games they played in a row. Let's face it, the Vols are now the big game on everybody else's schedule. We will get their A game every time. A little rest and we will be ready to take on anyone, anywhere and at any time!

ed, what i'm saying is that Bruce pushes it inside to Tyler and Wayne and tells the gators "stop us if you can". I'd get Spaights worn out or in foul trouble as soon as I could.
Hey, it's just a guess as to a way CBP could go about it.

mparker,
I see what you're saying...that sounds like a good game-plan. When people "slow it down, grind it out" I think of Kentucky holding the ball to the last second and throwing up a bomb.
Posted by Volchaz on March 5, 2008 at 2:24 p.m. (Suggest removal)
The last game vs UF at TBA, the Vols looked like they could break free at any time. UF looked tired in the second half, and their bench wasn't that deep. More of the same tonight. Close in the first half, then we take over. If the Memphis crowd didn't affect us, this one won't either.
Posted by 99gator on March 5, 2008 at 2:35 p.m. (Suggest removal)
unless tenn mails it in (which i highly doubt) or florida plays substantially over their head (fairy dust will need to be in the air), tenn should win tonight handily.
florida's strengths are tenn's strengths (and tenn is better where they are both strong)
florida's weaknesses are the same as tennessee's (and they are even weaker in those areas than tenn).
and to make all of that worse, florida likes to play at the speed that tenn does.
so, tenn is better and florida will try to beat tenn at its own game.
i love the gators, but it ain't gonna happen.

I tried to make a top 10, from best to worst or is it worst to best (I got confused) But there were so many heinous crimes/assaults/stabbings/shootings and theft that I had to list some evil-doing as honorable mention. Like the It’s good to be Chris Rainey recruitment or the mysterious throat slashing keg stealer.
And yes Canes and Noles, I know that some of the lesser crimes just did not make this list. I was tired of researching and writing.
Here are my top 10:
1. After Jarvis Moss jumped up (Ganja increased his vertical by 18 and salvaged the crocs season against the Gamecocks by blocking a last second field goal attempt, it was revealed he to also failed a drug test during the summer as the clock ticked to zero. Guess what game he missed? The showdown between top ranked UF versus division 1AA Western Carolina.
2. Gator great, Marcus Medicinal Puff Thomas - a multiple drug test failure, pot and GHB. Gator fans tried to convince us all it was from the same test then the truth came out, near the end of the season with his dismissal from the team. Moss and Thomas were both drafted by the Broncos. WTF was Shanahan thinking?
3. Baby Momma Slappin Avery Atkins. The alleged victim, Benerah Sanford, told police: She and Atkins argued Saturday on a drive to Atkins grandmother's house. Atkins leaned over and punched her at least 13 times, and pushed her face against the cars window while he conversed with relatives. Every time Sanford tried to exit the car, Atkins either punched her or stepped on the gas. When the pair finally arrived at Atkins home, she ran off and called the police.
Earlier this month, Atkins was found in a car in Daytona Beach with weed, gun and digital scales. To top it off, it was not his car. He had enrolled in UF in January with plans to fight his way back to the cornerback slot.
4. Brandon James a football player and Brandon Powell who coincidently is the basketball player, who sucker punched the Vandy student in the back of the head [link], were found together in Gainesville with. you guessed it: marijuana in the car during an undercover buy bust. One felony and one misdemeanor purchase of a controlled substance and possession of >20 grams of marijuana suspended indefinitely.

5. WR Riley Cooper smashed a windshield, welcome the perfect gator. And just who is Jasim Alidina? Adlina was the victim of Freshman Riley Cooper's flailing haymaker through his car window. While Alidina survived the incident, remarkably unscathed, neither Cooper nor the car were as lucky. Cooper was taken to the Morton Plant Hospital.
6. Florida defensive back Dorian Munroe charged with felony for removal of parking boot and placing it in his trunk. This was later ironed out as expected as UF is thin at the corner. One felony theft of a police metal parking boot from his car
7. At Da Club, Ronnie The Rifleman Wilson slaps some guy, then spits on him, then ends it by shooting at him, luckily police actually stepped in one time before he killed that guy. two felonies and one misdemeanor gun in a parking lot near campus suspended indefinitely
8. LB Dusty Rhodes Doe, pummels some dude (ala Channing the Chainsaw Crowder) in an Alaucha County vs. Pasco County gang fight (Bloods vs. Crips style). Punishment? No suspension from Meyer. Doe to face the (Jaws intro theme) Leadership Committee. one misdemeanor disorderly conduct for parking garage brawl
9. The 7-Man shower Self shooting gun incident, Gator players led by Dee Webb, Andre Bubba Caldwell and Reggie Lewis had a $60,000 SUV loaded with improperly registered AKs and other machine guns and they were all drunk while shooting at apartment windows for fun. Of course initially nobody took the blame and they all said they were in the shower (together) and that the gun must have shot itself $B!D (B Gators went with the deniable plausibility angle when Dee Webb shot off his arsenal saying he had already declared for the draft, so he was no longer a Gator.
T10. Dallas Bike Taker Baker, steals a bike, but when cops questioned him, Dallas said, heck man, I just thought the bike was abandoned. The sophomore was issued a sworn complaint from UPD as an officer stopped Baker near Ben Hill Griffin Stadium (which is a great place to take a deuce). Baker said he was late for an appointment and picked up an abandoned bicycle. Misdemeanor!!!
T10. Linebacker Taurean Charles. A UF student said Charles touched her against her will, the sworn complaint issued by the university police department said. Charles allegedly slammed her on the bed and onto a computer desk, picked her up over his head and threw her down on her roommates bed, according to the complaint. Charles was later dismissed from the Florida team.

Who is worse? Florida or Montana?
Honorable Mention
Nyan (Capn Stabbin) Boateng gets into a heated argument with some chick, a knife fight breaks out, Nyan Dogg ends up bloodied on the floor, luckily he was still alive.
Nyan has some issues he is dealing with, and in the meantime, he will not participate in any team activities, Florida spokesman Steve McClain said.
WR Percy Harvin, the star of the 2006 recruiting class, is a guy who was banned from Virginia High School sports. Why? Because he slugged a ref and had been involved in numerous brawls.
Chris Rainey and other recruits brag about how many gifts and wads of cash they are getting from Gator Alumni/Boosters Cash, Jewelry, and throwback jerseys. But he was just joking. Ha Ha Ha.
Joakim Noah swipes at Vandy cheerleader, and later confronts the Vandy coach! That will show her and him. They were gatorbait!
Two Gator linebackers Darryl Gresham Jr. and Jon Demps go up in smoke, Cheech and Chong style, suspended from team on National Signing Day. Suspension/dismissals free up crucial scholarships for incoming Blue Chip recruits. Linebacking now a concern.
The unknown 280 pounder. A University of Florida student claimed a Gator football player stole his beer keg from the back of his truck which was heavily damaged as his head hit it. The student had a knot on his head and his neck was slashed by a ring. This was reported to the police as per a story in the Florida Alligator. This story quickly vanished. The student got his keg back and continued scraping the paint out of the knot on his head (legend says that the student now has a full scholarship!!)

I have to agree with mcbrim on the game tonight. With our Gators only having 9 scholarship players this year, it would take a near perfect scenario for the Gators to pull off the upset. That being said, it wont make it any easier to watch if UT is able to win again. Go Gators!!! ...and lets all hope the Ted Valentine isn't in Gainesville tonight.

BOA, Not that I am one to defend most of the thugs that we all recruit...but about half of the idiots that were mentioned were kicked out of school. Including one (Atkins) who is now dead from an apparent drug OD. Don't be naive enough to think that we don't all recruit the same thugs....

not naive at all that was posted to mcbrim1998 after a discussion on another thread earlier about SC problems and KY problems with players.

BOA, Unfortunately we all have the same problems. The NCAA wont let the schools use athletic dorms anymore, so the coaches have less control over the players than ever before. And with the press having nothing better to do, they jump on ever little incident that they can get, so that they will be the first to "break the story". We all have problem kids in our programs because all of us want to win a NC every year (or every other year anyway). Good Luck tonight and GO GATORS!!!!

Hope to see you back on here tonight after the game.

Here is what I've learned about this team...when you count them out, they produce big.
I don't know if UT will win big tonight...or if they will win at all. But, don't count the Vols out shooting for an SEC outright title. I think Vandy will beat Miss State tonight. With a win, Vols can seal the deal. Bruce will have the team ready. It's game time.

mcbrim1998,
Good point on the KSN checking facts...shame on them for even considering doing so. But, there is one fact KSN failed to print which is UT is in position to clinch the SEC regular season title and (with a loss) Florida will be going to the NIT.
Don't worry, I checked my facts first before I posted this.

marc_ash, you might be right about the Gators, because after they play us they have to play KY at Rupp. They could end up 8-8 in the SEC. However, there is still the SEC Tourney. They would probally be #4E playing #5W (maybe Auburn) with the winner playing MSU in the 2nd RD. If they won the 1st 2 and maybe beat KY or Ark in the Semi's, I think they will make the NCAA's. If they lose to TN & KY and then lose in the 2nd RD to MSU they probally would be NIT bound. In the Gators defense, I believe the SEC should get 5 or 6 teams: TN, Vandy, MSU, ARK, FL and maybe KY. If KY beats SC & FL, I don't think you can leave an SEC team out of the NCAA with a 12-4 SEC record. However, they had some bad L's early in the season and they have lost Patterson for the rest of the season. Arkansas beats Auburn and is 9-7 in the SEC with 20 wins (they get in).

"Maybe we could get the Vols timekeeper for the night?"
McBrim, there you go again, insinuating that the Vols are cheaters. BTW, did you see the brouhaha in Oxford over the Mississippi Alabama game? Would you think the clock operator there was an Alabama fan?

I don't think the bad losses in the nonconference part of the season will hold Kentucky out. They've played well lately, sans the Vandy game. NCAA takes that into account. Hard to believe that the champion from the last two years would be out with 20+ wins. They are not George Washington U.

TN has to find ways to get Chris & Jajuan good looks at the basket. On the inside, give Tyler the ball and get out of his way. Wayne, Duke, Brian crash the boards and be ready for the pass from Ramar,JP, Chris or Tyler. Ramar and Jordan push the tempo. If we have the numbers on the break-Ramar take it to the hole strong. Duke,Wayne, & Brian play tough inside-rebound and block some shots. Jordan please hit 1 three or don't shoot the ball-pass it. Chris, Jajuan, & Tyler get to the Foul line. GO VOLS!

I still don't know why you as a gator fan are posting on here anyways. If I were 99gator, I'd ask the mothership to beam me up. It is obvious from the other visiting Gator trolls that there is no intelligent life on the Gainesville planet.
99gator, I know you're trying to teach those clowns down there but they obviously aren't following your example as a good guest. They're acting kind of like Cousin Eddy on "Vacation" (complete with metal plate in head and soiling themselves when somebody turns on the microwave.) You know: the trashy cousin nobody wants to come visit.

gator fans:
I for one will never diss Florida sports. They've done a damn fine job of repping the SEC the last few years.
No matter how you look at it, when and SEC team does something well, it reflects positively on the rest of the conference (and helps with revs and recruiting).
That was one of the reasons a few years back when LSU knocked us out of the NC game against Miami. I think we take Miami if we had played them. Instead, that damned Nebraska got to go and ger pummeled.

A second comment about Gator fans; when I used to live in the southeast, the only 'bad' fans where Auburn, and who the hell knows why. I got along just fine with bama fans, Uk, UF, Ole Miss, whatever.
Thing is, the Auburn fans didn't just hate UT, they hated EVERY one. 'Course, that was around the time when we creamed Bo Jackson pretty good.

all
this is the nature of college sports. sometimes you are up, sometimes you're down. i don't know why a gator fan would talk trash to tenn fans regarding basketball this season. tenn is better. a blind man can see it.
i get no joy from trying to tell someone their team stinks when, 1, they have a better team, and 2, they have beaten you repeatedly. also, stating someone's team stinks does not make my team better.
on a side note, i like bruce pearl a lot. beyond being a good coach, i think he is good for the game and good for the league.
florida basketball will be formidible next year. but, they have holes that can't be filled until next year's personnel arrives.
i think the tourney committee will give florida every break possible to get into the tournament due to the whole back to back thing.
when the season comes to an end.....don't sweat your ranking and don't sweat your tourney seed. just go on the court and win.
another thing....it will be interesting if pearl conquers another historical tennessee basketball problem.....the SEC tourney. tenn never seems to do well regardless of how good their team is.

99gator;
our style of play this year doesn't bode well for the sec tourney. we should be okay for the NCAA's, but the pressing and running is hard to keep goning for multiple days in a row, IMHO.
I'm actually thinking Miss State or Vandy wins the SEC tourney; the darkhorse will be UK, but that has dwindled w/o Patterson.

99gator ... nice post (6:11p), I was getting tired of the quality of life, sales tax, pool door crap.
I agree that the committee will do all they can to include Florida in the NCAA ... defending NC means a lot, back-to-back is strong cred. That said, they will need to make a strong run in the SEC b/c I don't think they win tonight and this weekend against UK will be tough (IMO). Also agree with mparker that they style both teams play is tough in the SEC with games each day. We have already seen how a tired UT team has fared the past 10 days.

Florida just made everything they shot in 1st half but UT is okay. I agree with the aricle in the Tennesseean today- UT is very tired and needs REST.
Think about it- memphis, vandy, Ky, and now florida within 10 days or so.

One more comment during the commercial-
no matter what happens the rest of the season (tourny) these guys have been exciting to watch!!
Besides the Texas game when Prince was not eligible to play, the Vols were in contention of winning each and every game!! These guys are so exciting to watch and I still think the best is yet to come under Bruce pearl. That faint sound you hear is Floridas bubble bursting. When are you mullet wearing, sister dating necks from fla going to learn your lesson? G Nation, valiant effort but u guys played as well as you could and still got beat in your own crib. That's sad. Come on back and keep talking ur smack. Theres some good news for u guys-- NIT tickets still available on eBay.

When are we as the Vol nation going to speak up about all the bulls#!t that passes for refereeing in this league! The calls for Florida in this game were the worst I have seen all year, yet Mike Hamilton remain silent. Everyone is so f%^kin in love with Donovan, but enough is enough. We sit here and take it like second-class citizens of the SEC but the favoritism for Florida in this league makes me want to puke. I swear, if Hamilton doesn't do something about it, he can have my season tickets. I am not going to pay one more dollar to support a program that turns a blind eye to a system that is turning SEC basketball into pro-wrestling.

What a great game! I knew FL could not continue to shoot the way they started. TN bench + Chris/Jajuan combo was the difference in the game. FL is just a too young of a team. The 3 seniors for TN were big. Tyler is always there and JP did good in the fist half. SEC CHAMPS! Let's go get them Gamecocks on Sunday. I'll be there. It's senior night vs SC, but it will not be Good-bye yet. We got more to do-SEC Tourney Champs and Final 4! GO VOLS!

Seriously, I am not sure that I can ever remember watching a team that has more poise or plays with more passion than this team. They really have taken what Bruce brings as a coach and parlayed it to the hardwood.
We may continue to get more highly rated recruits in the future, but there is no way that anyone we will ever get will ever have more heart than kids like Lofton, JaJuan, etc...

I didn't ge the game in the Tri-Cities but were the calls as bad as they seemed from what I had to read online? Seemed like Floridas bigs were getting all the calls. Crews, Chism, and T Smith all had 4 fouls but Speights only had 2 both in the 2nd half.
Glad to get out of Jeb Bush land with a W

Werner once again shows what a punk he is ... clutch free throw shooting and an unbelievable road win. Sunday should be a special day for our Seniors ... no reason UT can't keep making history and run the table.
GO VOLS!!
