Tennessee baseball player Kentrail Davis has been named SEC Freshman of the Week after the Vols' three-game sweep of Eastern Michigan this past weekend.
The true freshman from Theodore, Ala., led the Vols in batting average (.636), hits (7), total bases (10), slugging (.909), on-base percentage (.692) and also was perfect in the field during the EMU series.
Davis went 3-for-3 with a walk, two RBIs and a run in UT’s series-opening win on Friday. The Vols’ starting center fielder belted his first career homer in the first game of Sunday’s doubleheader while going 3-for-5 with three runs scored. Davis drove in two more runs in the series-finale, with another run scored.
And at one point in the series, he reached base safely in eight consecutive plate appearances (six hits and two walks).
Davis leads the Vols with a .438 overall average and a .550 on-base percentage, while ranking second in RBIs with 10.
Arkansas senior Aaron Murphree was named the SEC Player of the Week, and Ole Miss junior Scott Bittle was SEC Pitcher of the Week.
