Kentucky adds Western Kentucky in football

LEXINGTON, Ky. — Western Kentucky will play at Kentucky on Sept. 27, the first time the two in-state teams will meet on the football field.

The Hilltoppers went 7-5 last season and are making the transition from the Football Championship Subdivision to the Football Bowl Subdivision.

The Hilltoppers will replace Temple on Kentucky’s schedule. The Wildcats went 8-5 last year and won the Music City Bowl for the second straight season.

On Monday, Kentucky added Middle Tennessee State to its schedule, replacing Akron.

Wow Western Kentucky and MTSU... Kentucky is going to have the toughest schedule if they keep this up...Who's next? East St. Louis Technical School? I think they are hoping to play in the Music City Bowl again next year.

Maybe KY, is thinking if thay add MTSU thy might have a bit better chance of betting a Tennassee team, but good luck with that, MTSU can be tough!

MTSU, Western Ky.... Sounds like the Cats are contemplating a move to the OVC. (I think one or both of these teams isn't in the OVC any more, but oh well...) Western Kentucky should have demanded a home and home basketball series as part of the bargain.

Looks like KY wants to move to Division II and positioning itself to do so. KY has seen its best years...downhill from here...slip, slide & away!
