Girlfriend says Wilson never punched her

PITTSBURGH — The estranged girlfriend of former Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Cedrick Wilson denies that he punched her at a suburban restaurant this week.

Lindsey Paulat said the former University of Tennessee player got upset but only shoved her when he saw her drinking Wednesday night.

“He never punched. He pushed me in the side of the head,” Paulat told the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review on Friday. “It was misconstrued apparently by the people around us.”

In a criminal complaint, Northern Regional police said Wilson pushed Paulat on the shoulder and, when she turned around, punched her in the face. Wilson, 29, is charged with simple assault, harassment and disorderly conduct. He remains free on $10,000 bail.

Wilson apologized and said he would attend anger management classes. The Steelers released Wilson on Thursday, a few hours after his arraignment.

Wilson’s attorney, Paul Goltz, is out of the country, and his office has said the attorney handling the case will not comment.

Wilson and Paulat, who have a 1-year-old daughter together, also were involved in a fight in January at his house. Police charged her with firing two gunshots after Wilson left his house. Paulat, 26, of Fawn Township, is awaiting trial.

“Cedrick has been very supportive as we are working through issues,” she said. “I think he was just basically disappointed in me and he only wants the best for me and my daughter.”

Yea, for those morons that jumped all over the other article and said 'Fulmer should learn from the Steelers by booting him immediately! ha! Adams was right, blah blah...'

Nothing like being quick to judge before all the facts are in, yea, real smart. By the way, those wonderful Steelers that everyone was saying Fulmer should learn from, how about Harrison? LB for the steelers who assaulted his girlfriend and was arrested, yet the steelers held on to him for dear life (see this for details: http://www.kansascity.com/491/story/5...)

Once again, Fulmer know much more than us, Adams, or anyone else outside the program, hence the word 'outside'.....he knows much more about individual cases and how to handle them then any of us claim to know, gee...think that might be why he gets paid to do this for a living?!? Nah.... that's too commonsense.....

Andy,

I will not argue with you on those who bash Fulmer. I do think that this may be a classic case of "uh oh, there goes the paycheck". No one can tell for sure but there is a huge possibility that she would say that so Cedrick can get off easy and get another NFL job. The police say there was quite a welt on the side of her face so that doesn't look good for saying it was a shove.

All we can do is speculate but I don't think this story proves anything either.

Reminds me of the Duke lacrosse case. when that first came out, people had those guys in prison for life with no possibility of parode. then the facts started coming out. The sad thing about this case is the follow up article did not get the same treatment as attention. way to go KNS. always fair, always right, fire fulmer.

Can I get an Amen?

Does this mean that the Steelers will re-sign Wilson now that he didn't hit his girlfriend in the face, after all?

The steelers were looking for ways to clear up some money most likely, otherwise they would have booted Harrison if it were merely policy.

Of course she's now going to say she wasn't punched. She knows where the $$ was coming from and now its cut off.

From the way it sounds she probably has a drinking problem and he found out where she was and went to confront her. He was probably fed up with what she was doing to herself and reacted. Extenuating circumstances...

Or maybe he just punched her.
