If T. Smith's taking the shot he's within 5 feet of the bucket and that's a high percentage shot!
bluetick writes:
Yea, I agree. It depends on where on the court the person is shooting the ball. If it is from 3pt range nobody could argue with it being Chris, though Jajuan as of lately has had a better % than Chris and more opportunities than Chris. If it is inside of the 3pt circle I would take Tyler or Chism, and even wouldn't count out Prince if he was on his game that night. Kind of a trick question, but I'll put my vote for Jajuan since he can hit it from 3 well and also inside of 3 well.

right now, I'll take Tyler over anyone.

I liked Florida's system for 2 years - The go to guy is whoever's open.

Oops! I didn't like Florida's system that much.

murray, pretty funny!!!
anyway, I picked Wayne, for the reason that is mentioned for Tyler: he's within a few feet of the basket.
As for FTs?? I would pick Jajuan. No offense to Chris, but he has had some big misses at the line, and Jajuan ssems to be a little better in crunch time. Chris' shot is almost, well, TOO much rotation.
VolJunkie writes:
Good posts ... murray, LOL, thanks for that!
Typical end of game last shot is not coming under the basket, that's why I like Chris to take it. He is used to making shots under pressure, usually with someone in his face. If it is an inbounds play under their own goal, I totally agree, Wayne or Tyler are the go to guys though I think Tyler finishes stronger. Hopefully this is a moot point and it is UL/UNC looking to make the last shot!
Go VOLS!!!

I'll take Chism down low, Tyler in the lane, and C-LO outside.
knoxtenor writes:
Lofton has repeatedly shown that, even when he personally is having a bad game, he can step up and drain one with seconds to spare in big games. Tyler Smith, too, has experience with these shots, but Lofton's a better shooter.
johnlg00#206211 writes:
It's Lofton for me. He has had the big game-winning shot more often than anyone else. He can also drive for the lay-up or the floater in the lane, and he is money if he is fouled. Fact is, I could live with almost any of our guys shooting for the win if they get a good look. Wayne, Tyler, JaJuan, and Ramar have all come through in the clutch for us at one time or another. I would still try to set up Chris; he is not only our best in that situation, he deserves the chance.
UltraVolDavid writes:
I'll take Chris Lofton. Remember Winthrop, anyone?
LargeOrange writes:
I take Chris Lofton for two reasons, if it is a perimeter shot he is the consensus pick, but he has the ability if that if the jumper is not there, to drive the lane and take the layup or more likey draw the foul. I say get him the ball near midcourt with 10 seconds to go set a pick for him and let him make the play.
injunvol writes:
a good basketball team would never be in this position to begin with - but this poll is for the vols so lofton is the one
nate writes:
I say give it to Lofton due to the fact that if that time comes for a final shot give to the guy that wants the ball. Lofton has proven time and time again that he wants the ball and the shot when the game is on the line. Who cares if he is open or not he seems to make the shot when he is guraded by one or more guys.
mdvol writes:
I'd say Chism on a two handed stuffaroo under the bucket. I think that's pretty high percentage.
johnlg00#206211 writes:
Good thought, mdvol, but Wayne HAS missed a few dunks this year. Everyone misses a shot every now and then. I'm still for Lofton--when it counts most, if you go down, make sure it was with your big gun still firing!
volwalk writes:
It depends on the amount of time---if there are 10 to 15 seconds we work it to whoever is open (Chris, Jajuan,Chism or Tyler)...If we have less than 5 seconds you are looking at an outside shot coming off a screen and I would would won't that to be CLO ie. "MONEEEEEY"!

The ONLY answer is WHOEVER THE HELL IS GONNA KNOCK IT DOWN!!

What about Howell? heh heh heh
rllipscomb#212376 writes:
Brian Williams because he would likely be within 3 feet of the rim and he has the highest field goal percentage.
marinevol writes:
The last shot? Are we behind by 1 point, 2 points or 3? Or were you talking about a game where we are ahead by 20 points? You seem to have left out some pertinent information to make an assessment. Anyway, I would have to go with Lofton because of Winthrop and South Carolina.
volboy81#211803 writes:
Chris or JuJuan from 3 to win it by 1!
Pops writes:
Its got to be JP Prince right? I mean he looked great down the stretch the last two possessions against Butler.
fchildress#209172 writes:
Not sure how you vote for anyone other than the Senior who's hit a game winner in the NCAA tournament before, a.k.a. Chris Lofton.
Tyler Smith is the leader of this team at this point in my opinion, but having been there before, made the shot before, and being a senior, there is no other choice than Lofton.
invisiblekid writes:
Where is Dane Bradshaw on the list? Seriously, I gotta go with Lofton because he has sunk plenty of daggers in his time and nearly pulled out another one against the Hogs in the SEC. Also, that Winthrop shot was a thing of beauty, falling out of bounds in the corner, almost shot it behind the backboard.
rockyknox writes:
Guys, think outside of the box. I hope Tanner Wild takes the last shot after our starting 10 take their curtain calls.
NCVOLMAN writes:
Let's not let it get that close. Let's be up by alot at the end so we can relax. Here's hoping the guys can put together a great game on Thursday and play even better on Saturday. Everyone over here in Raleigh is already dissecting Louisville vs Carolina so let's follow the advice of a famous Charlotte resident who proclaims"IF YOU'RE GOING TO BE THE MAN YOU HAVE TO BEAT THE MAN, WHOOOOO!!!!ps can Coach Summit be on the bench the rest of the touney??

as much as Dane was popular, I don't think I can forget the layup he spun out against OSU in last year's regionals...it was a huge miss at the time.
He was right under the basket, and freaked because he thought Oden was closer. It just spun right out.
Sigh.
Timed_vol (Inactive) writes:
I still like Jajuan at the FT line better than Chris. Don't know why, but Jajuan seems to be able to hit the clutch FT's the best.
Chris and Tyler tend to clank them out.
invisiblekid writes:
mparker, comment was made in jest about Dane. As much as most everyone loved him, shooting wasn't a strong point. As you said though...sigh.
Overall, I agree with rockyknox except Mini-Bruce should get the last shot. The question should have been posed in a more specific manner i.e. "last shot to win the game".
aclark19#629177 writes:
I voted F. for OTHER...
Which UT player would I want to take the last shot??
Candace of course.
Duh.
AllVol writes:
I would want the OTHER team to take the last shot--it would mean they were behind!

There is only one, the Great Chis Lofton. Is there really any need for a debate.
