NASHVILLE, Tenn. The wife of Tennessee Titans All-Pro defensive tackle Albert Haynesworth has filed for divorce.
According to court documents filed Monday in Williamson County Chancery Court, Stephanie Haynesworth alleges irreconcilable differences and inappropriate marital conduct as the reason for the divorce.
She is asking for alimony and custody of the couple’s two children plus Albert’s oldest son, who she says she has cared for since 2004. The couple was married in October 2003.
“This is a really difficult time for our family, we hope that you will respect our privacy as we work through this difficult time and keep us in your prayers,” said Haynesworth, who played for the University of Tennessee (1999-2001), on Tuesday in an e-mail through his agent, Chad Speck.
Haynesworth is coming off his best season as a professional. He had a career-high six sacks in 2007, was named an All-Pro and voted to the Pro Bowl as a starter for the first time in his career.
The Titans designated Haynesworth as their franchise player Feb. 20, but he is not under contract. He did not join the team in the offseason program that started Monday. The only way Haynesworth can take part would be to sign the tender worth approximately $7.8 million, which would be 120 percent of his salary for 2007.
Speck said Haynesworth is working out on his own and will be ready for the 2008 season.

Mr. Adams, don't you think this is obviously another failure by Coach Fulmer? Coach Fulmer has to go now, wouldn't you agree? Perhaps it would help if you write another denigrating article or appear on Birmingham or Atlanta sports radio?

Is this newsworthty material or is KNS seeking to become a supermarket tabloid?
Posted by Volfan1 on March 25, 2008 at 2:10 p.m. (Suggest removal)
Yeah, Mr. No Credibility Adams will find a way to blame Fulmer for this situation.

Why, why WHY is this news?! Let the man deal with his private life on his own.
Very sad. This should not be in print for people to see.

Who gets custody of Fulmer?
Posted by sidwalkvol on March 25, 2008 at 2:53 p.m. (Suggest removal)
another Pulitzer entry for the KNS. Gosh, with reporting like this I can cancel my subscription to the Enquirer.
Adams is editor of the sports page so I guess it is his call about running crap like this...more nails he wants to hammer into Fulmer and the program. OBVIOUSLY this is Coach's fault.
When does someone take JA to court for being an embittered little moron?

You guys are idiots. The Associated Press wrote this article. It's referring to a Tennessee player. The News Sentinel will post any story from the AP on anything to do with Tennessee/Knoxville. Get over the Adams thing. It's really old.

I wish you guys would give it a rest on John Adams. I think it shows your ignorance that you only want Sports Reporters who are going to blow Sunshine up your butts about UT football. I have been a diehard UT fan since 1958 (and that is not my birth year, far from it)and a REAL fan should appreciate hearing the truth, even if it hurts. I'll bet the house that in 3-4 years after two losing or definitely terrible years, you people will be right in there saying "We should have fired Fulmer back when Adams ran that article". I have watch the ups and downs of UT football and the current situation is almost exactly like the last years of the Bowden Wyatt era. He destroyed the football programs by refusing to keep up with new techniques. Hell, We were still playing the single wing. Because of that We never stood a chance in the recruitment of one of the best, if not the best, quarterbacks to come out of East Tennessee. A kid out of Science Hill High School in Johnson City, Tennessee, who went on to win the Heisman trophy named Steve Spurrier. If he had went to UT, what would have happened?

HA HA HA HA HA HA Good one, Volfan1.
Man, AD, turn on your sarcasm alert or something...

Another loser produced by this program. Yes, the T on the helmet still stands for "THUGS"
Posted by TnKyFlAlGaScLaAkMi on March 25, 2008 at 3:42 p.m. (Suggest removal)
Hey Owensboro, what ifs' are more ignorant than the truth. What if TN had NC's every year? What if Spurrier came to TN and tore his ACL his first year? What if other people have an opinion other than yours...oh wait, we know that, its their 'ignorance'. Unfortunately, no one is immune. No one. And yes, I would like a reporter, who is not only a UT fan, but a UT graduate. Then I would at least read the article not suspecting bias every week. Would you let someone untrained in your field come to your job and tell you where you were right and wrong? I doubt it, and if you did, you would be more than ignorant. You would be fired.

Aau.. Anyway, I do fill bad for the Hayensworth family and will pray for them, hope this will not be too much of a distraction for big al. I like seeing him play for the Titens on sundays. As far as the 7.8 mill. Sign the papers dude!

Hey KyScGaFlAlAkMiTnLa, nice name. It's too bad you're an idiot too...unless you meant to include Michigan in your name.

Guess this is Fulmer's fault again.
Posted by iowavol on March 25, 2008 at 4:20 p.m. (Suggest removal)
Hey Owensboro..., just heard something you'd like. Johnny Majors may be coming back....
Adams sucks, always had always will. His purpose is not telling the truth, his purpose is to infuriate and sell papers. Adams' moto is make yourself look better by making others look bad. It works for him and gets people like you supporting him.

OwensboroVol you make very good points. I am also making a point that KNS does not have to publish personal information about the private lives of former UT players everytime something negative happens. Additionally, my opinion of Coach Fulmer is that he is a good man and is trying to send the program in the correct direction. He did win the SEC East this year and and I think has made it to the SEC title game more than any active coach(correct me if I'm wrong). However, I am hopeful that the addition of Clawson will bring a much needed overhaul to our offense...if we give him a chance. I watched Richmond play Appy in the playoffs this year. If that's the offense we will be running, it should be fun to watch and effective. Finally, the offenses in the National Championship this year were much more conventional and conservative than many of the new offenses such as the spread option. They were full of pro sets and a "pound it" running game. I mean these comments as honest debate of the "State of the Program" and appreciate your point of view.

I was born in 1958 and have been a Vol fan since then.....I wish Adams would slink away! Theres a big difference in blowing sunshine up someones butt and taking jab after jab after jab against someone, especially when the one doing the jabbing is as clueless and dumb as Adams!

Not for sure why anyone gives a shiit if Haynesworth is getting a divorce.
Posted by GreerVol22 on March 25, 2008 at 5:02 p.m. (Suggest removal)
Adams...the kind of guy that would pay $10,000 for the dugout urinal from Yankee stadium.
I hear Sanders has a hang nail and Cutcliff left some racing stripes in his BVDs. More quality material to pile on against a washed up coach.
Posted by sidwalkvol on March 25, 2008 at 5:08 p.m. (Suggest removal)
you don't mind Adams piling it on the program week after week but feel bad for people piling on him about his unobjective, quite biased "opinions"? Where is the sense in that?
Posted by Volchaz on March 25, 2008 at 5:36 p.m. (Suggest removal)
Isn't it basketball season? Aren't both teams still in it? I'm puzzled why this is newsworthy. Must be a slow news day in Louisiana....
Posted by IPOrange on March 25, 2008 at 5:53 p.m. (Suggest removal)
hiresanders, let me see if I have this right... the man is going through a divorce, so he's a thug? Man, you just labeled about half of all people who get married as thugs, since the divorce rate is about 50%.
Oh, and by the way - Sanders was OC while Haynesworth was at UT. Just thought I'd point that out....

AD / OwensboroVol: I agree, I think I get dumber every single time I read the comments to any of these articles. It blatently says it's from the AP from Nashville, yet these neandrothals want to whine and complain and make some sort of John Adams reference.
Volfan1 / chas_turner / sidewalkvol: Get over it and stop being little whiney sissy girls. Are you still holding grudges over JA for breaking your little girl hearts in elementary school or something? Surely it's not over an opinionated article he wrote about your man-crush Phil Fulmer!! I mean, if he should be fired for that... you should be kicked off this message board for sharing your girly opinions!!!
this brings me to.....
iowavol: I really love your brilliance!! "Adams sucks, always had always will." Wow, said like a true high school dropout. "Adams' moto is make yourself look better by making others look bad." Ah man, check it out you used the apostrophe correctly and everything..... then you go and make up your own word (moto = motto). I'll give you credit though, you tried your hardest.

VOTE::::
a) Greervol22.... the kind of guy who thinks John Adams wrote this when it clearly states it is an AP article out of Nashville.
b) Greervol22.... the kind of guy who would kiss John Adams a$$ if they were face to face.

What? No criticism for me, yarb? Dang, I'm starting to feel neglected. You could at least call me a "blatent neandrothol". lol.

I'm not a huge John Adams fan but for the love of Peyton Manning give it a rest people! This is not a John Adams article? It is a so called newsworthy item about a former Vol. Granted, it doesn't really warrant mention in the newspaper because like someone else mentioned that this happens to about 50% of society. I feel sorry for big Al and hope that everything will be okay for him

lol, No IPOrange you punk out yourself, no need for me to do it! (oooh snap)
But seriously, all I want is for everyone to get off the anti-JA kick. I can deal with typos and dumb comments in general, but the whole "boycott John Adams" bandwagon is just played out man!! Get OVER it!! I don't really care for him much, so don't get me wrong here... I just can't stand when people refuse to drop stuff! I thought only women brought up old stuff and refused to drop it... EVER!? Haven't you guys seen the Milwaukees Light commercials??? Some of you fellas need a huge beer can dropped on your heads.

Heh, heh, heh. Touche.
I can live with that. I came down pretty hard on JA when the article first came out, but I've moved on. Good sparring with ya, man.

yemm, your as bad as Adams about jumping to conclusions. Associated Press, I saw that first and knew Adams didn't write it. If you read the post from the beginning, the tone set by the posters is that as editor he continues to pee on the fire just to make it smell. So we pee back.
I don't boycott, never have, and he doesn't even have to apologize. He just needs to be fair and responsible for his actions. And you really need to work on your sense of humor, it sucks.

Fair enough, I'll work on that if you'll work on your visual language. You're all about some "pee" and "doo doo stained underwear"... kinda creepy there, brobot.

just getting down on the level of all these pro-Adams folks hoping they get the point. Its clear your not one of them. nuff said, peace out.

Hey Mr. Adams, why don't you just start writing for any of the other 11 sec teams. and GET OFF FULMER'S TAIL!!!!!!!!!!!

yem... you really think these folks, including me, thought this article was written by the jerk? And you really think anybody goes to the trouble of editing their comments or gives a big rats ass if they make spelling mistakes or punctuation erors on this site? I'll tell you this friend, it is the epitome of an idiot to call someone out for spelling errors while making one on your own. Best not look in the mirror - you might not like what you see.
