Tennessee's Annie Alexander (shot put), Brittany Sheffey (1600-meter run) and Jeneba Tarmoh (60 and 200) were named to the inaugural SEC Indoor Track & Field All-Freshman team Wednesday.
UT and LSU each had three athletes named to the team, followed by Arkansas and Florida with two. Alabama, Auburn and Kentucky each had one named to the list.
For the men, Kentucky and South Carolina had four apiece selected, followed by Tennessee - Joseph Berry (pole vault), Michael Ayers (heptathlon) and Axel Mostrag (800) - with three and Alabama, Arkansas and LSU each with one.
The Vols open the outdoor season ranked third in the US Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association rankings. Florida State (259.63 points) is first, followed by LSU (247.33), UT (209) and Florida (195.32) and Southern Cal (188.89).
