Any contractor in town who will work off a high schooler’s weekly allowance, head Glory Johnson’s way.

It’s inevitable the Webb School basketball standout will need a trophy room with enough recessed lighting to highlight her ever-growing amount of awards.

Johnson was named Wednesday one of five girls named to USA Today’s All-USA girls’ basketball team. She and Shekinna Stricklen of Morrilton, Ark., were the only University of Tennessee signees to make the first team. Elena DelleDonne, a Connecticut signee from Delaware, was the player of the year.

The honor for Johnson comes on the tailwind of two Division II-AA Miss Basketball awards, two Gatorade state player of the year awards, being named a Parade and McDonald’s All-American, twice being named the PrepXtra girls’ player of the year and a state championship a season ago.

Johnson has also won five Division II individual state track event championships.

Johnson, at 6-foot-3, is most noted, however, for her skills with the pill. But in USA Today, she said she’d may be bottling them up in 10 years if she’s no longer in a jersey and shorts.

“If I’m not playing basketball, I want to open my own pharmacy in Knoxville,” she said. “I’ll be able to help other people.”
