Cordell Passley, who was once in UT's plans, signs with Vincennes

Cordell Passley, who originally committed to Tennessee as a highly touted freshman but never signed with the Vols, signed with Vincennes University in Indiana.

The 6-foot-2 point guard from Pike High School in Indianapolis, Ind., spent this past season at a prep school in Cincinnati.

Passley was suspended from Pike for his junior season due to academic issues.

"The reason he wants to come down here is to get his recruitment up," Vincennes assistant Brian Davis told the Indianapolis Star. "He still has some big school looking - Kentucky, Temple, DePaul. He has interest in Indiana, Purdue, Ohio State."

Passley's brother, Tony, was dismissed from UT in march of 2007 after playing one season as a reserve during the 2006-07 season. He transferred to Southern Indiana. The sophomore forward was dismissed for what UT coach Bruce Pearl described as "rules violations," although his absence late in the season had previously been attributed to academic issues.

Tony Passley redshirted in 2005-06 after transferring from Redlands Community College.

He faced drug charges after an arrest in March 2006, pleaded guilty to marijuana possession, was suspended from the team then reinstated.

Cordell Passley reopened his college search after his brother's dismissal from UT.

I'll second that. Who the heck cares? Why not write an article about some cheerleader that once thought about coming to UT but she got fat and pregnant and decided to go to Slippery Rock?

This article could have been written about Bobby Maze 3 years ago (minus the brother part).

Tony Passley and Major Wingate were a part of why the UTBB's APR is below requirements.

It's amazing that this story finds itself on this site. Aren't we officially into football season in Knoxville once basketball season is over? Look at the most emailed stories. Most are regarding basketball. What does that tell you? Unless you include the walk-on from Alaska.

It does go to show what can happen with early commits. As the General said about passing...three things can happen and two of them are bad. 1 He may be a bust on or off the court. 2. He may turn out to be an elite prospect who stays on board. In any case, you have to continue to recruit him until he signs. 3. He may turn out to be an elite prospect who jumps ship.
The Wildcats have rolled the dice and tied up a number of scholarships. I, for one, don't wish them any luck.

The only reason Tennessee offered this kid in the first place was because his brother Tony was already on the roster. He was listed as like a 3-star prospect on Rivals I believe (Not particularly "highly touted"). I like how his assistant coach first makes it sound like he is getting looks from other big schools, but if you read the quote it means he wants to go to big schools.

NS Staff, go down to the weight room and see what football players are there and how hard they are working. THEN REPORT THAT. IT WOULD BE MORE INTERESTING. I am surprised we were not treated to pictures of pasely and stvincens junior high.

Anybody seen TDTN?

Posted by swclaw on May 8, 2008 at 4:18 p.m. (Suggest removal)

There is nothing on Southern Indiana's site that indicated Tony Passley ever transferred there. Anyone know what really happened to him?

ZZZZzzzzzzzzzzz.

Only in the doldrums.

TDTN was last seen beating his retarded sidekick Dupree over the head with a post from a Halls Has It sign. This was after Dupree was locked in a back closet of the Halls K-Mart for days and was screaming like a little girl. Asked if he wanted to say hello to the GoVols gang, TDTN just grunted something about FOOLmer and cursed under his breath. I'm personally glad the jerk is gone.

Vincennes U will be a certain final four team now. This was the missing piece they needed. I'm just glad they're not in the SEC.

That's right. I expect the fighting vinnies to go all the way now.

Thank God i finally heard about this. I was so worried about what happened to those two. Thanks a lot to the staff of this web-site. I think from now on we'll call these pointless stories staff-infection hahahahaha i'm so funny like John Adams.

Something tells me if he had of signed he would have been one of the most incredible players in the country. Since he didn't he was nothing.
You guys are totally funny.

Why do you all write this crap?

Posted by marinevol on May 10, 2008 at 6:06 p.m. (Suggest removal)

This one really hurts. I thought we had this guy. Damn you, Vincennes University! I guess they will no longer be considered just a football power.

Compare this kid's bio....with the bios of Maze, Wingate, Ramar, and Crews. Amazingly similar in terms of (lack of) character and incredibly similar to what seems to attract Pearl. Reminder: He inherited Bradshaw and Lofton...who stand in stark contrast to the norm in nox(ious)ville.

Posted by General_Fritter on May 11, 2008 at 4:30 p.m. (Suggest removal)

We can't compete with the murdering thugs at Memphis.

Posted by itsme53792 on May 11, 2008 at 7:45 p.m. (Suggest removal)

Yeah general; you are so far ahead on thuggery and moronic academic performance....that, for once, ut is ahead of Memphis on something. The only "high" ratings for Rocky Top High in noxious noxville...is for dope-smoking and dropout rates.

Posted by itsme53792 on May 11, 2008 at 8:08 p.m. (Suggest removal)

And, the major discerning difference...is that Memphis would never have been recruiting this guy in the first place; you see, he's not at least 4-star and not in the Rivals Top 50. As a little primer for you little folks, check the top 25 2009 prospects; 16 of them list MEMPHIS. Check to see how ut fares? Elite means Memphis.

Hey memphis ( itsme53792), 0-1 against UT this year.
