OXFORD, Miss. — Mississippi defensive lineman Chris Strong, the centerpiece of last year’s recruiting class, has withdrawn from the university.
Coach Houston Nutt says Thursday he does not expect Strong back next fall and “wishes him well in whatever his future holds.” Even if Strong returns to Ole Miss in the summer or fall, he would not be eligible to play next season.
Strong, of Batesville, was considered the state’s top prospect coming out of South Panola High School in 2008. But he struggled with his academics before qualifying late in August.
Once on the field his weight became a problem and after three starts at middle linebacker he moved to the defensive line by the end of the season.

Jacksonville State, perhaps?

He could join Lamarcus Smoker at Hampton or wherever he went. If not, I'm sure that Jacksonville ST. will take him. We have enough D-linemen in Juco for grades or on our superdeep O-line.
