bring dale jones back as an assistant on this new staff. That man is pure passion! You think he could recruit someone to come play for the Big Orange? I know he could!
Agreed. Just because someone was a successful player doesn't mean he can teach.
Kids need to learn, not be awed by a first meeting to then discover the mentoring isn't there.
Who cares if he's from Siwash if he can show a O-line how to open a actual hole? Or can teach DBs that it is not necessary to drop back 9 yards on a 1st and goal from the four.
That "feel-good" goes out the window when they kick it off. Family has got us to 3 wins a year.
If we lose Chavis, I want to see Al Wilson on staff too. We need a big time motivator, and he has not just that, but also an NFL pedigree and the skill to probably still mix it up with them. Plus I think he'd be a great disciplinarian. Carl Pickens would be a good guy to bring in too if he'd be interested.
Al Wilson just called and dares you to call him a Pansy to his face. By the way, what is Fulmers record against top SEC coaches? I haven't seen you post that one in the last 10 minutes.
My write in vote would be for Eric Westmoreland. I heard him speaking at the pregame call-in show on the Hill on Saturday. He's coaching at some high school in Chattanooga I think. He sounded pretty knowledgeable.
He would be my write-in. Don't like my options here.
Hey KNS, how about head coach Tommy West at the University of Memphis. He's been a head coach at Chattanooga and Clemson. He's smart, creative, recruits well, and he's as tough as a "nickle steak'! He's a former Vol and would be an asset to the school and the SEC. Since the Tennessee folks on the hill aren't likely to bring his name up for consideration, your paper ought to drop a hint to seek West as the next head coach. West would tell you, once a Vol-always a Vol. Go Vols!

I talk to some of those knuckleheads down in Memphis and they have tried to run him off. Tommy West won't happen, but he has done quite a bit with the Tiger program. They lost their top 3 QB's and top 2 RB's and can still score more than 10 points. Admittedly, it is not against SEC talent, but they also don't have SEC talent at many positions either.
I like the thought of Al Wilson coming in. He could light a fire underneath an underperformer or two.
I too would like to see Al Wilson on the staff somewhere. I don't think you would see too many players laughing on the sidelines when UT was behind.
Coach Wilson, Coach Wilson. We need your fire! Start him on D line coach, then work his way up to DC. Then we need some on like him for the O line, and so on.
Doesnt matter what we think. The selection of coaches depends upon the defensive and offensive philosophy and direction of the head coach that is chosen!
That's how "they" are raised. Who are "they" you are speaking of Big Country? Also could you post Fulmer's record against other SEC coaches, haven't seen that one in a while.
Dude, did you lose touch with reality? Bates played against us in high school and had the heart of a true Volunteer. If he had been anything less than a stud, he would not have been a Landry favorite in the NFL with the Boys. Jimmy Johnson thought enough of him to keep him around after Landry and ultimately put him on the staff. This sounds like some kind of racist attack. Take the hate somewhere else.

Interesting suggestion. It won't get any traction, but Tommy has done about as much with Tiger High as anyone could have hoped.
It seems that you would be too busy running Kentucky's offense or coaching their QB's to get on here and petition for your job back, Randy...give it a break.
Oh yeah, all those guys he tattooed in college and the pros thought so too. Once again, another brilliant post. Why do you insist on embarrassing yourself continually?
By the way, what does Al Wilson have in common with all UT players in the last 23 years?.....He never lost to Kentucky either.

Bet Cobb and company will be ready to avoid being #24 in a row.
I still can't believe we gave up 50 last year and still won.
A Cat win would be a final stamp on Phil's resume.
How about Kippy Brown? He is a asst coach for the worst team in the NFL (Lions) He might be looking for a job soon, maybe a good Offensive Coordinator?
No class as usual on this site, you won Fulmer is gone, get on with your life...

Dale Jones from that list...but just out of curiosity...why wasn't my main pick of former Tennessee players included?

You're right, Sanders is the greatest. You should make him your OC immediately.

It says a former player currently coaching at another program. I don't think Big Al is coaching anywhere.
Though, if he were, I'd be right there with ya.
