The Tennessee men's basketball team is expected to sign power forward Kenny Hall from Stone Mountain, Ga., today on the first day of the fall signing period.
"I've just been waiting for the day,'' said Hall, who made a verbal commitment to sign with the Vols in March. "I've known where I want to be, and I haven't had much to worry about.
"Everyone has been pretty cool and respected my decision.''
Hall committed to Tennessee the week after he visited Duke. His visits also included UCLA, Clemson, Alabama and Georgia.
Hall was rated the No. 28 player by Rivals.com when he committed to UT in March, but the ranking is now No. 61 after the summer evaluation period.
Hall averaged 24 points, 13 rebounds and four blocked shots per game last season for Stone Mountain and played AAU basketball for the Georgia Stars last summer.
The Vols could sign another player in the Class of 2009, but it has yet to be determined if they will do so. If UT doesn't sign another player in this class this fall, it could still do so in the spring signing period.
The Vols have three verbal commitments in the Class of 2010: Josh Selby, Jordan McRae and Aaron Craft. The earliest the 2010 players can sign is next November.
Selby is a junior guard at DeMatha High School in Hyattsville, Md., who is rated the No. 7 overall player in the Class of 2010 by Rivals.com
McRae is a shooting guard from Liberty County High School in Midway, Ga., and is the No. 28 overall player in the Class of 2010.
Craft is a combo guard from Findlay, Ohio. Craft is not ranked in the Rivals Top 150.
Tennessee coach Bruce Pearl said Monday he wasn't sure how the recent announcement of freshman point guard Daniel West's academic ineligibility would affect the upcoming signing class, if it did at all.
West has the option to finish out the school year at UT his own expense and be eligible next season or he could transfer to a junior college where he would need to graduate before being re-recruited.

Rivals was started by Ole Miss alumni. It is almost always the case that if someone chooses Ole Miss, their stock jumps quite a bit. Choose another SEC school and your stock will plummet.

If West did well in academics this summer and earned enough credits for a semester, why could he not be eligible for a schollie after Christmas? Problem being he did not earn enough credits, Perhaps.
